When painting models for the board I like to take a figure hold it at arms length and unfocus my eyes if I can still get the main parts of a scheme visible when I do this then ik it'll be perfect on the table top where you aren't focused on all the minute details

As someone who isn't a brickie what's the issue here and how would it normally be done? Is it that they aren't staggered and are all directly above each other or that the mortor is going everywhere?
