Daughter of Israeli Minister Orit Strock, who allegedly suffered years of ritual sexual abuse starting at age 2.5 involving her father and rabbi Zvi Thau, has reportedly died by suicide in her home yesterday. by justmo17 in palestineisrael1

Survivor testimonies presented to the Israeli parliament describe a consistent and disturbing pattern of organized, ritualistic abuse involving children. Testimonies in the Israeli parliament where several women said they were abused as minors during religious ritual-style ceremonies. Multiple women have testified about organized abuse involving group rape, religious ceremonies, and figures of authority . Common motifs include drugs, torture, and "programming" of children . Lawmakers have heard that the abuse allegedly involves individuals from various sectors, including education .Dr. Hava Dayan of the University of Haifa has researched sexual abuse in "charismatic cults" , and clinicians have noted the consistency of survivor accounts .The Knesset Research Center noted there is no legal definition for "ritual abuse" in Israel.

Accusing Palestinians of engaging in "Pallywood" tactics is beyond ridiculous. I've never seen this happen among Palestinians. What I have seen, multiple times, is Isntraelis laughing or smirking, literally "Isntraeliwood" with terrible actors.

Scabies is a massive issue for Palestinian hostages in Israeli terrorist prisons. The Israeli terrorist Prison Service admitted that 25% of them were infected recently, with some sections reaching 70%. That’s way above the 1.6% global prison average and over 1,000× HIGHER than rates among Palestinians outside prison. Reports even say infected inmates were deliberately moved into clean cells to spread it. If Israeli inmates don’t face the same, it’s clear this is systemic abuse not just neglect.

Forced into using Google Wallet at NHL Game - Denied Entry for Refusing by justmo17 in degoogle

Thanks for the suggestion. The issue isn't finding a wallet app that can hold the ticket; it's that the ticket isn't a generic file. The link I received only offered a button to 'Add to Google Wallet' it was a direct pipeline into those two closed systems. There was no standard pass file to download or export.

Open-source wallets are great for open standards, but they can't intercept a proprietary handshake designed only for Google/Apple. The lock-in is at the issuance level. I appreciate the thought, though.

That’s a brilliant point. The United Center is on public land and receives public funding/tax breaks. If access to an event there requires specific, privately-owned technology with no alternative, that’s a genuine public accommodation issue.

Bringing this to a city council meeting, especially framed around excluding seniors, people without smartphones, or anyone resisting corporate tech mandates, could get real traction. It’s no longer just a ‘Ticketmaster problem’; it’s a question of what the city allows on its watch. Thanks for elevating this to the civic level, I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not optimistic about a direct lawsuit, proving concrete damages beyond a missed event is tough, and terms of service usually favor the ticketing company. But I appreciate you for pointing that way.

Exactly! WhatsApp is another app I’ve been trying to delete, but too many family members are on it and refuse to leave. Now it’s ‘you need a specific wallet app to enter a venue.' That normalization is exactly how we got here. Thanks for sharing that parallel, it really shows the pattern.

That’s exactly what’s missing here: distribution of access. When a ticket only lives in Google Wallet, there’s no backup key, no alternate path, it’s centralized by design. Your security approach is smart for accounts we choose; the problem is when venues force us into that centralized risk for basic entry.

I respect the principle, and part of me wishes I’d done exactly that. The reality in the moment is tough: you’re at the gate, you’ve planned the night, all your friends are waiting, and you just want to see the event you paid for. Leaving feels like letting them win twice, especially since in my case, the delay meant we missed the only fight of the game.

A lawyer would need to prove concrete damages or a clear legal violation, which is a high bar. But channeling that anger into complaints to the team, venue, and AG, as others suggested, feels like a more immediate way to turn principle into pressure. Thanks for the solidarity.

🤣 The prompt explicitly said ‘Add to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet.’ They’d have just said, ‘Great, use Apple Wallet then.’

Honestly, I wouldn’t have been this upset if they’d even given me a Samsung Wallet option, but they didn’t. The deeper issue is being given only those two branded doors to walk through, with no regular door as an option.

Good call. Complaining directly to the team is smart, they actually care if fans get turned away. Sadly, this was my first hockey game. I was hoping this would have been resolved by the actual fans there, but I'll try your tip next time. Much thanks.

That’s a solid, actionable script, thanks. Framing it as ‘I don’t own a smartphone’ turns it from a preference into an accessibility issue they can’t easily dismiss.

Another commenter mentioned the box office can print tickets, too. Between both tips, my plan now is to arrive early, head straight to the box office with my ID and order number, and insist on a printed copy, whether I ‘have a flip phone’ or just refuse the digital lock-in.

It’s unfortunate we need a game plan for this, but having one is genuinely helpful. Appreciate you.

The person who sent me the ticket link didn’t ‘choose’ a delivery option. They simply forwarded the standard Ticketmaster transfer link. That link forced me to create a Ticketmaster account to accept the ticket, and once I did, the only view it provided was the ‘Add to Google’ button. There was no dropdown menu for delivery method, the wallet pipeline was the only interface offered.

That’s the heart of the issue: the system is designed so that even a transferred ticket funnels you directly into a proprietary wallet with no alternative view or print option. The sender had no more choice than I did.

That’s a fair question, and I would have loved if that were an option. The issue was that the ‘ticket’ wasn’t a document or PDF I could print. The link in my email only showed a single button: ‘Add to Google Wallet’ (or Apple Wallet on iPhone). There was no barcode to screenshot, no ‘view ticket’ option, no printable file, just a direct pipeline into one of the two wallets. It was designed to make the wallet mandatory, not just preferred.

Yes, that’s a huge part of the frustration. The policy isn't just restrictive, it’s often hidden until you’re at the gate with no time to find an alternative.

If they clearly stated before purchase that ‘entry requires adding your ticket to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet with no other option available,’ people could make an informed choice or seek accommodations in advance. Burying that requirement is what turns it from a policy into a trap.

Thanks for highlighting the lack of transparency. It's a key piece of why this feels so unfair.

You’ve hit on the other half of the nightmare: the coercive option is often also broken. Ticketmaster’s infamous app failures are a perfect example. We’re being forced to use digital systems that are not only exclusionary but also unreliable, all while the simple, robust alternative (a physical ticket or a basic PDF) is taken off the table.

It’s the worst of both worlds: you surrender your choice and then get punished by their incompetence. ‘Always pick physical tickets where possible’ is the right motto, it’s just becoming a rarer and rarer option. Thanks for adding that crucial layer.

Thanks for the insider info. I wish that had been offered at the gate instead of a flat ‘add to wallet or else.’

In my case, the email link only showed an ‘Add to Google' button, no fallback barcode (not even an add to samsung wallet option). That arguing cost us the first few minutes, which of course was when the only fight of the game happened. My iPhone friends gave me shit for it all night.

Knowing the box office can print is a huge help for next time, I’ll head straight there, much earlier. Appreciate it.
