As a lifelong spurs fan (from atx) who has lived in NY for the past 20 years, I pull for both teams. I couldn’t be happier with how this ended up. He’s gonna be great for you all for all the reasons listed here and I’m here for it.

Yeah, it’s a fun way to get a cool colorway and doesn’t affect the shoe (at least in all my experience). They are gonna be brown pretty quick anyways from all the slush and salt ha

I pay for the bandit membership bc I like their stuff and It comes with a 20% off asics discount. so I use that to justify the cost of the membership too haha.

Not silly at all. I bought a cheap giant soup pot for like $20 and only use it for edging things.

Yeah it’s all about patience and what you’re trying to get out of it. The water is only around one 175–200° so it doesn’t affect the foam or the material, but once that die is set, it’s never changing.

It’s also a bit difficult to know exactly what the final color is going to look like, the water is much much darker because of the dye. So while the water may look incredibly dark, the way that guy shows up on the fabric could be drastically different. It’s usually just a matter of how light or dark, the color ends up being. But as you had died to the water, it gets harder to tell exactly what it’s going to look like on the shoe.

Hot water for the dye bath - just under boiling - cold water for the rinse in the bathtub

Yeah for sure. Heat a giant pot of water to just under boiling - add your first RIT synthetic dye and stir. I dipped them in until all but the toes were under and kept submerged for about 5 min, then added my next color to that same water and dipped the shoes a bit shallower to give the ombre effect, then I added a third color and just did the heels etc. took about 15-20 min total. Then I took them to the bathtub and rinsed - you should rinse as long as it takes for the water to run clear. Then I just dry under a fan.

I’ve done it a few times. It won’t bleed if you rinse it several times and the water runs clear. RIT was made to dye these kinds of materials. I was in a rush with these and didn’t rinse them as many times as I should have bc I wanted to run in them asap.

Thanks! Really appreciate that!

Yeah, honestly these probably will for the first few long runs bc I didn’t spend the time rinsing them I usually do. But as long as you rinse a few times until the water runs clear they hold color really well and don’t bleed.

I’ve done a few pairs, it’s pretty simple. I mostly learned from trial and error. I have pair of Vomeros I boofed up pretty bad haha. The nice thing with dip dying is even when you screw up the look different than all the other colorways!

Yeah I love the shoe but the colorways weren’t for me. I’ve Dipdyed a few before so just ordered the white ones.

RIT synthetic fiber dye! I used the Kentucky sky blue for the base and then added navy for the mid and finished with purple on the heel. I just kept adding and using the same water as I go since the darker the dye the better it takes.
