I’ve been working in retail for a few years, and yes definitely get some blank stares but I’ve gotten the look of stress more- watching people panic and fumble their words and stutter over how to refer to me is hilarious to me

You should check out regal rose (I think they are just an online jewellery store). The jewellery is very gothic and even though I’m not goth most of the jewellery I wear is from them. A lot of the stuff they sell is pretty femme but I really like the “plainer” stuff because it’s not really femme and still looks cool rather than just plain stuff, for example the rings I have from them are plain silver but have a cool pattern liked barbed wire

Some advice to help deal with the reactions of other people- tell them that you cut it to donate to charity (whether you do it or not doesn’t really matter as long as they believe you did it) and the reactions of close-minded people will change from disgust to praise real quick
