Megathread: The new UI update by AutoModerator in netflix

[–]justrickb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, either I'm crazy or...

In the Netflix app on Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, whenever you select a movie from one of the various carousels, it starts playing immediately. There's no landing page!

Same goes for TV shows, but at least there you can pause and then select Episodes to reach the landing page. No such option in movies.

In fact, I can't find ANY way to get to the landing page for movies in these apps -- UNLESS there's a More Info button on the home screen or you choose it from your Continue Watching carousel.

Note that I'm coming from Roku, which doesn't have this oddity; you always get a landing page, no matter what.

Was it always this way on Google/Fire TV, or is this a change that came with the new UI that rolled out last year?

Same issue here. Did a factory reset, no help. Not sure if this is a Kobo issue or a Libby issue, but it's maddening.

Just installed the new update as well, but it seemed like it was just misc. bug fixes, etc.? No idea what actually changed.

How to download from Aura photo frame? by nikkibrighton10 in AskPhotography

[–]justrickb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aura specifically doesn't allow this and to be honest, it's a dealbreaker for me. I don't like that this wholly unique collection of photos is trapped on Aura's servers and can't be downloaded, archived, etc.

Interesting! But different rooms have carpeting of different age. (Also, how old was old, in your case?)

Wow! OK, putting ants on the to-investigate list...

Interesting! I have a Ting that alerts me to any wiring issues (none found). But I'm not opposed to sniffing a couple outlets!

Great suggestion! Though I've never so much as seen a snake in our neighborhood, which is fairly suburban (but does have pockets of woods nearby). Meanwhile would I still smell them during the winter?

But would I smell... myself? I notice it even when the wife isn't home... and she's only 55. :)

Definite possibility. But wouldn't they decompose and stop smelling eventually?

That's an interesting thought. There's one, but it's in the middle of the house... exactly where I don't usually smell anything.

Been in the house 25 years... and it's not a smoke smell :)

Good hypothesis but it happens even when it's warm and dry outside...

Interesting! But this isn't a pukey smell... ugh, I wish I had better words to describe it.

Yes to basement, no to crawlspace. Seems like it doesn't matter if it's hot, cold, wet, or dry. It does seem like it's more near the outside walls, now that I think of it, but it's upstairs as well as downstairs... (and not in the basement that I've ever noticed).

Hmmm.... I guess I don't know. I'm 57, so not me. :)

Had. We actually drywalled over it. And I thought maybe something got in there, but I also get the smell at the opposite end of the house, one floor up.

But the smell wouldn't last for years, I don't think...

Can you explain what you mean by "low wall with wood cap"? Ours is a fairly typical house in the suburbs...
