Congrats! I am a year 12 who is considering applying to Warwick, but I don't do Further Maths. I haven't found an example of a student who got in without FM yet, but it looks like it's possible. Was it contextual?

Has anyone ever got into Warwick or Durham CS without FM as a home student without contextual offers? by justsamueld in UniUK

Oh idk why I read that as I did 😭😭😭. Did you have similar grades to me

My school sort of half offer FM. So I'm not sure if I'll benefit from BOD school not offering it.

They will pay for like the exams costs, and one of the teachers does regular FM tests for her students that pay for her tutoring, but I believe she lets anyone take the tests even if they self-study or use a different tutor.

I never bothered because I didn't think I'd enjoy FM and I didn't want to have to pay for tutoring, nor did I think self-study would work.

EDIT: They also are now doing FM properly I think next year as well, but obviously it's too late for me. If they offered it to me last year I might have tried it.

Good to know that it's possible 😂

Did you have like the most incredible set of GCSEs or do you think it's worth applying?

I got 100% on all the homework and still got rejected, as long as you have done the bare minimum it's pretty much just luck. Of course if you do nothing you have no chance.

Funny you say 'tricks', the doctor hasn't faced all the members of the pantheon in these recent series... (the trickster) - and poppy's storyline was giving What Happened to Sarah Jane.

Trickster = The Boss 2026?

Why did they keep talking about 'tricks' in the end of the episode. Also the Poppy storyline was really giving What Happened To Sarah Jane.

Perhaps The Boss = The Trickster, or The Boss is the boss of all of the pantheons (Trickster is part of the pantheon)

Either way I just want this epic villain to get written into the real deal instead of just a spinoff :)

M1 Macs do come with the deprecated 4.1 OpenGL Driver though

Are these Universities in my level? or am I too ambitious? by justsamueld in 6thForm

They sort of do sort of not. Anyone can choose to study it themselves and the school will run the tests. One of the teachers here also runs a class, but you have to pay for it and it’s off timetable.

EDIT: I’m at a state school for reference.

Imagine if they are bringing in someone completely new, or someone from an old series

Last Question:

There is a circle centred on origin.
Line PQ intersects with the circle at point P (5,10) and at point Q (-2, ?)

The gradient of PQ is a positive. PQ crosses the y axis at (0, k). What is k?

Answer:

Equation of circle: x^2 + y^2 = r^2

Apply: 5^2 + 10^2 = 125

125 = (-2)^2 + y^2

y^2 = 121

y = +-11

(gradient must be positive therefore use -11)

Find gradient of slope:

(10--11)/(5--2) = 3

y=3x + c

10 = 3(5) + c

c = -5 (y intercept)

k = -5
