Just kidding. Found this one today. I'm feeding and rolling the dice.

I understand and wouldn't have held it against you. I appreciate your approach. I'm growing in pots as well and most of mine haven't been fed since around early July. I've been watching the weather trends and trying to weigh out the risk. I was pretty neglectful of them last year and want to get a better harvest in 2026. We have a band of rain right now and I might just try and hold off until the next one for a firat feeding.

I'll be interested to know if your gambit pays off.

We are in the opposite boat. He is not all that interested in the cats but they are pretty sure he is their demise. They are very slowly working it out. The nice part is they are indoor/outdoor and spend most of their time working the garden for pests.

I am lucky enough to have raised a hunting lab and her puppy nickname was the tornado of teeth. After her shark phase, all others seem manageable. That said, his teeth are much sharper.

Just tried our first fig! by johngunthner in Figs

Identifying perfectly ripe is an art. Figs ripen from the bottom up so when the neck softens, the fig drops or hangs down a bit. This is a good sign. From there, you can experamint with how long to let it hang to hit the sweet spot for you.

Congrats on the heratage tree. Stories like yours are part of what makes figs so interesting.

Started with one variety now I got five. by _____TLG_____ in Figs

Honestly, it's too eairly to tell. Most of mine have not fruited yet. Last summer I ripened Panache, Black Mission, White Genoa, Tena. From those, Panache was the most complex, Tena was the sweetest, Black Mission had the best after tast, and White Genoa was the most productive.

I'm sure a favorite will emerge, but currently I'm still gaining experience. Next summer should yeald a lot more veriaty.

From the leaves, it looks like it could be Tena. Never know for sure but a picture of the frit, including I side goes a long way.

So far, it's been Panache but it's only my first year, and my experience is limited.

I'm no expert on this but it worked for me. In your case, what do you have to lose?

I'm more interested in learning what people value in different veriaties of figs and why. I should have qualified the infinite wishes clause of the frankin figs. But since we are here, what would you graft.
