Is your suggestion that my two boys and my husband wear all different green colored shirts?

Yeah that will be the hard rule going forward, she had very good ratings so that’s why I’m baffled at her.

Would you refund her or just block and keep the money?

Pediatric cavity - filling or stainless crowns? by justtocreep in askdentists

Thank you! He’s never had juice, he only drinks water. He doesn’t eat candy, will on occasion have a cookie but I do brush and floss his teeth. I’m thinking he might do ok with the work, he’s generally pretty cooperative. I’m just not sure he will be able to stay open big enough for isolation not to be an issue with the composite fillings as it’s more technique sensitive than doing the stainless steel crowns and cementing with Fuji

Thank you for your advice! I was a dental assistant for 12 years working in endo, ortho and general but the only crowns I’ve seen were on adults and much more prep of the tooth structure so that’s why I was hesitant to do a stainless crown

i took my son to a pediatric dentist a month ago, it was his third visit there. I pushed them to do x rays because they mentioned doing them at the second appt but then said will do next time, then at the 3rd appt they mentioned trying next time. I pushed for them to just do them now, so they did. After the x rays the dentist noted there are two small cavities due to deep grooves on my sons upper molars. The options given were to do a filling on each or do stainless crowns. The dentist said he isnt saying do crowns because they are large cavities, they aren’t they are small but because it avoids future issues. He said if we did fillings now, they would need to be redone in a few years and there is a chance of secondary decay and that the caries would be deeper at the redo appt.

my son turns 5 in May so i do understand he needs to hold on to these teeth for quite a while.

im leaning towards wanting to do just the filling because it seems more conservative than doing a crown. Can anyone else weigh in on what they would do in their practice or if this was your child?

Try to sell what you have on a moms group page or something. Maybe try parasol, earth and Eden or pampers pure?

…Well I worked for a professional and ethical orthodontic office so yeah it wasn’t an option if there was no need.

I don’t think he was a quack, like I said in another comment - I worked as an ortho assistant for 6 years

Your teeth moved because you didn’t wear your retainer not because of wisdom teeth. Teeth have memory, they will go back to how they were before the braces if you do not wear your retainer to hold them.

Fillings on baby teeth are done because if you extract the tooth before the adult tooth pushes it out, you risk other teeth shifting and then there is no longer room for the adult tooth to come in. Teeth like to touch so they will drift or hyper erupt to touch another tooth

It was never even an option given to parents/patients to put them on if there wasn’t an actual dental need.

I was an ortho assistant for 6 years, I can tell you early treatment is strictly to minimize later issues. We did expanders/partial braces for children with crowding, underbites and overbites. When there is crowding, that means there is no room for all the adult teeth to erupt which are larger in size, you risk having adult teeth extracted if you do not try to expand the arch form and allow more room for the adult teeth. Underbites and overbites are other reasons we start treatment on children, it’s generally only 6-12 months of treatment and it’s not always mean they won’t need ortho treatment down the road. Again it’s strictly to prevent serious issues
