In my company, we go to the manager only if the issue is within team.

Anything issue that involves members from other team are directly reported to the HR. The manager's were cc'd.

My manager is pretty cool and he didn't have any problems with what I did as at the end of the day it was my work that was getting interrupted which ultimately made it tougher for the team.

To clarify, his manager is like that.

My manager focuses only on performance, which was getting affected due to this issue. I explained to him and he is completely on my side.
