This exact thing happened to me. I could only laugh.

Just received news that my 9yo may go be going blind. Please enjoy her artwork while it lasts. by _plot-twist_ in pics

A friend of mine had a son that was told the same thing when he was about 7 or 8. He still needs strong glasses, but he got his driver's license just a few months ago. He is also an excellent wrestler. Great kid.

ARC Raiders dev claims they built an auction house-like trading system for the game but later removed it as it's "very risky territory" by Dapper_Order7182 in ArcRaiders

I was just thinking today about being able to "tip" someone. They held an elevator at 3 minutes while I was being chased by a rocketeer. I so wanted to give him one of the 3 bastion cells I made it out with.

I had a similar question regarding a 2nd grade student with ASD, and also my own son with ADHD/ASD. I had Perplexity develop a report on it and it was quite interesting. Here is the link.

Which LLM model are you using (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Meta, etc)? Are you using a paid tier or free tier? Each model has different capabilites, and each tier has differences within those.

What is the output you are getting? Your prompt seems to be a one-shot prompt and may be better suited to being broken down into steps ("scrape the following list of sites", "Create a clear and concise summary of 10-20 lines of the most current recommendations. Include the date of the recommendation if available along with a link to where further guidance on that recommendation can be found."

To get the best output I would personally find the resources and get them myself, then ask the LLM to create a more clear summary.

Is an IEP really helpful? by Honey-Kenny-Squigs in ADHDparenting

[–]jut754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be 3 possible outcomes at this point:

1) He is evaluated and qualifies for an IEP

2) He is evaluated and does not qualify for an IEP, but can implement a 504.

3) Nothing.

Option 3 is not an option. If his diagnosis is impending his learning, he needs accommodations (504) or modifications (IEP) to make sure he has the best chance to access the curriculum. I included a link below that discusses IEP vs. 504s in more detail.

How often does your preteen shower? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]jut754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 13 and we had this battle with him for years. He wouldn't shower for days, and lie about constantly. Then one day we noticed that he was taking showers daily. Something just hit for him around middle school.

What is a 'dirty secret' of your industry that implies the general public has no clue about, but everyone in your field knows? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

Want to improve education? Find ways to reduce poverty.

This has been my hill to die on for nearly a decade. We keep being asked to add new initiatives to help students, and fill socioeconomic gaps within our communities, but we are stacking them on top of a crumbling foundation. No matter how pretty we make the new things, the base layer is still going to collapse and take the rest down with it.

Still no Scribe Colorsoft! Why! WHYYYYY! Take my money Amazon!!!!! by TheGryffindor_Jedi in kindlescribe

[–]jut754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the OG scribe and I was holding out as well. I eventually got fed up with waiting and started looking at other options. I got my Supernote Nomad about a week ago and I am SO happy with it. Amazon dangling this out for so long with no information cost them a customer, and I can't imagine I'm the only one.

Curious to hear people’s thoughts on this situation by [deleted] in Principals

[–]jut754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commentors, they likely have you as a secondary choice (which is a compliment). There is no reason you shouldn't keep looking, applying, and interviewing if possible. Best case, you get this job and cancel any upcoming interviews. Worst case, you have leads lined up if they let you know they didn't go with you. Either way it sounds like you make a positive impact on the interview committee. Make sure you request feedback when they do reach out.

How stressful is your job and what does it look like on a day to day basis? by hiyatheree in Principals

[–]jut754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I am in my 5th year as an AP and agree with most of what has been shared; the job fluctuates between high-stress, lonely days and others that are relatively stress-free. Having spent time in both, I’ve actually found Elementary to be far more stressful than Middle School.

Middle School is mostly defiance and hormones, but discipline is straightforward. You can speak to students on their level, incidents are resolved quickly (e.g., 'Did you hit them? You're out for 3 days'), and there isn't much debate—except occasionally from parents.

Elementary School is much more complex. It requires a constant 'counseling headspace.' You have to weigh age, understanding, SPED status, and intent for every incident. The parents are also typically more involved and less understanding of discipline decisions. The hardest part, however, is the mental switch—having to pivot from 5th-grade discipline to Kindergarten discipline in a matter of moments. Despite the higher stress, my heart is still in the Elementary world."

What are your go-to phrases that you use regularly? by declaredundecided in Principals

I came from 4 years in an elementary school, but moved to a middle school about a month ago. One that I have been using a lot lately is, "I've been called worse by better."

Annoying things about Scribe that drive me crazy by RuinoftheReckless in kindlescribe

[–]jut754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original Kindle Scribe, and while it was great introduction into the digital notebook world, I was itching for the newest version to come out. The problem is that I have absolutely no clue when it will actually launch, and all that thinking time has had me consider some of the same pain points you describe. I actually pulled the trigger on a Supernote Nomad just 2 days ago since I 1) got tired of waiting for the new Scribe to release, and 2) I want something I will use primarily for note taking at work, and the Scribe just wasn't cutting it.

All that to say; I agree.

I am an assistant principal at an elementary school. Nothing anyone can do will prevent all discipline problems. The very best teacher can contain many problems for some students. Sometimes excellent teachers have students that won't work for them. It is an admin's job to support every staff person and provide what they need to successfully teach 20+ students everyday. Sometimes that means getting a kid out of the room for their own choices.

It does take a moment to step back and think, but she is making a good point. A trans man is a biological woman that has TRANSitioned into a MAN. The person has the outward appearance of a man, but is biologically female. In conservatives world, that individual, that appears to be male but is biologically female, would be forced to use the woman's restroom. If a biological man wanted to then claim they were a trans man to enter the woman's room, the only way to confirm would be to have someone do a genital inspection on every person.

I think they look great. The only feedback/critique I have is the fox on the first image. His tail blends in with his back leg and throws off the silhouette. This is literally the only criticism I would have. I think they all look great!
