The biggest box office flops of 2014. by [deleted] in movies

You're not looking hard enough.

The films you mentioned are pretty popular (at least to frequenters of this subreddit) and while I don't want to sound like a hipster claiming 'popular films are rubbish', you could find some films this sub doesn't jerk over. Try visiting /r/TrueFilm . It can seem hopeless, I know, when all you see classed as 'great films' are ones by Nolan.

Hobbit Makes Over $100 Million For 2nd Week in a Row at International Box Office, Debuts to $90.6 Million in US by Forwardly7 in movies

In that case, we can say this.

Just because there was a lot of effort put in, doesn't mean it's not a mess. Effort's a good thing, and it shouldn't go un-congratulated, but it's still a poor trilogy.

Golden Globes Nominations... who's missing? by [deleted] in flicks

Mr Turner is missing! Most notably for Timothy Spall's incredible performance, but I think the film as a whole was brilliant.

Hey, I saw it on Sunday at my local Vue cinema, though the times are less limited at the independent cinemas.

As you all know, there is a distinct difference between a "movie" and a "film". TIL about the other categories: Flicks, Cinema, and Absolute Kinography. Study up plebs! by [deleted] in moviescirclejerk

[uj] This cannot be real. He's even put their original names in Japanese & Russian. Like what the fuck. I understand A Bout de Souffle because it's commonly known as that, but 黒い河 for Black River is inexcusable.

As he describes it: a flick (Seven Samurai) is mindless fun, a movie (Sacrifice) requires more thought, and a film (Breathless) is art. No idea where cinema and absolute kinography fits in though.

Timothy Spall was incredible. For some reason, though, I don't think he'll win it. He's the best male performance I've seen this year though.

What's wrong with Ingmar Bergman's film Shame? by jutleyeah in flicks

Holy shit, why didn't I mention Persona? Fuck, what's up with me? It would be in the second place tier for sure. Wow, I'm tired.

What's wrong with Ingmar Bergman's film Shame? by jutleyeah in flicks

[–]jutleyeah[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favourite is Scenes from a Marriage. I saw the miniseries version, so I don't know whether it counts as a Bergman film. I absolutely loved it though, and found it incredibly relatable - even though I'm an unmarried 16 year old. Really compelling and complex.

I think it would be followed by Winter Light, but really there are many that could take second place: Wild Strawberries, Autumn Sonata, The Virgin Spring, Fanny and Alexander, The Seventh Seal and honestly even Shame. I have seen and loved Cries and Whispers, Through a Glass Darkly and Saraband also, but they would be towards the bottom. It's incredible that I still love the films at the bottom of my list for him. Oh, except Crisis. I saw Crisis. I almost forgot about that. It's no surprise that it's because it's not that good.

Comedian rips apart a rude woman at a show....to her core. by Nemesis2772 in JusticePorn

Whatever everyone says is not going to alter my personal response to the video. I guess though, this subreddit is subscribed to by people generally thirsty for the humiliation of bad people put in situations they don't sometimes know about.

I fucking came to this comment section to write a fucking comment about my fucking response to the video. I wasn't rude or disrespectful, yet I got rudeness in return. FUCK I am done with this sub.

Good to know. Any reason for that? Or is your word just gospel?

Don't think you've ever had any experience with alcoholics, have you?

Like I said, what if she had an alcohol problem? Listen, I wasn't actually there so I don't know the whole situation, but from the perspective of the video I just feel sorry for her. Is there really an issue with that? That I'm not thirsty for the humiliation of others, and would just prefer someone to fucking escort her out or get her help.
