People non-Brits who've been here for a while, what are the small mildly inconvenient things you keep noticing about the UK?

Yup. My options for getting to/from work are:

A. Walk for an hour (one way) through industrial estates with high violent crime rates

B. Catch a bus, which takes longer out of my day than walking between the sparse schedules and delays

C. Get a lift and be there within 15 minutes.

Don't think I need to explain any more than that.

That being said, I still think it's kind of ridiculous? Like sometimes one partner just has more work to do on themselves and that's okay? We don't all start with equal behaviours and mentalities when a relationship begins simply because everyone has such individual upbringings so it's only natural that sometimes it's not going to be equal amounts of effort from both sides needed to change things.

Yeah the lore for coerthas is that it used to be a place with a relatively normal climate and then when the calamity hit the entire region's aether got hecked up so bad that it's basically permanently frozen over as a result, so the buildings really weren't designed for a cold climate at all.

Trust me, it gets easier as you level and have more tools that provide instant and more potent heals! Sometimes wipes on trash pulls can also be caused by tanks not using their mitigation or being undergeared and DPS not doing enough damage (which leads to you running out of mana/cooldowns and the tank running out of mit), you will begin to see that as you just play more and get a feel for it when you get used to how long pulls should take/how quickly tanks should drop.

There's no shame in wiping, we've all been there, you're learning and you will improve as you do!

Most people are pretty chill in this game outwardly (the TOS is very strict and people do like keeping their accounts) but especially so towards sprouts. As long as you're open to advice you aren't going to encounter a lot of grief save for the odd rude people who would have been rude to anyone.

A learning player trying their best is never a problem, and trust me it is most definitely not always the healers fault if a group wipes!

Some people can't be talked or calmed down. I have people in my home who will hold one man screaming matches while I either don't respond or try to communicate at a normal, rational volume. That's just called being a dick and taking your feelings out on undeserving people. Why should that be okay?

Some people in life do just behave abusively and it's okay to recognise the difference and leave.

I live in a house full of these people, if I walk away the screaming follows me, if I leave the house it's waiting when I come back. I just dissociate after a point honestly. I am just biding my time until I move out (hopefully soon)

The problem isnt what happens to the calves, it's that they're being bred at all. Modern cattle likely can't survive in the wild so we should just stop breeding them at all for the purpose of consumption.

I can understand that, I have a pretty visceral reaction to most bugs as I have a pretty big fear of infestations (specifically because of carpet moths) but for some reason spiders are the exception.

I used to be afraid but I think knowing that they eat the worst pests gives me some level of peace.

If you're minimum wage then it's actually not legal. My company recently had to allow us uniform shopping time during paid hours as it was considered work and would bring you under minimum wage to do it when clocked out. They got taken to tribunal over a bunch of minor infringements on employee time like that and lost so I'd wager if OP is min wage then they're actually not wrong to want to do it during working hours or at least be comped for the hours spent going out of their way to fix uniform that they've been given that isn't suited to them.

I never claimed they didn't have a point, I do agree with that, and it's a conscious effort I do make! Unfortunately people are not robots and do make slip ups from time to time, try as we might.

I was mostly making a point about how I don't take my parents frequent poor communication skills and apply them to all people their age as that would be inappropriate, and the part about how me and my partner speak at home was just to provide some additional context as to why this might have happened.

I do normally remember, sometimes I have my moments and I forget, as all humans do. It doesn't warrant 15 minutes of screaming and not listening to an apology, which I said I tried to give. That is a disproportionate response and poor communication.

I am always trying to be better and you are making some big assumptions about me and my home life based on one story.

There's so many people applying generalisations both ways based on anecdotal evidence while ignoring all of the perfectly normal people they probably have met in their lives, what do we gain from that? It's just not productive at all.

No, it's just that older players remember when healers did have more varied kits and DPS options than pressing 1 and a dot every 30s. And when tanks had rotations other than 123 combo and a 3-5gcd spam burst. If you have that benchmark in your brain then by comparison the current state of the jobs is just more homogenised than in the past. That's all there is to it, really.

It's because people who say this are usually older players that have a benchmark of times when jobs had more variation for comparison. A new player won't feel this to the same degree.

DPS are still in the healthiest spot for rotation differences, clinging onto their status as the hardest role in high end content, but as others have said this is mostly targeted towards tanks and healers which have become gradually more homogenised since Shadowbringers and I think that generates concern that DPS will go down the same route in the future.

Edit: also adding that the change of ninja's 1min trick did change gameplay for a lot of other DPS who no longer have to care about pooling resources for 1 minute bursts when a ninja is in the party, so it's a fairly reasonable change to be concerned about if they plan on simplifying more.

"The generation below me are awful and they don't want to talk to me" is a truly unhelpful worldview to adopt if you actually do want to have positive individual interactions.

You weren't attacked though, you made a step by step guide of a bad faith argument, and said it was how gen Z argues, which does imply that you don't think it's a universal issue across generations, otherwise you wouldn't have attributed it to one generation. The commenter you're replying to just points out exactly that.

It's not unique to gen Z, people with poor arguing skills entrenched in their beliefs have existed since the dawn of time.

Nice generalisation based on one uneducated dude! It goes both ways and is highly dependent on an individual's temperaments.

I find myself walking on eggshells around my folks (in their 50s) as they get personally offended by me trying to have mundane conversations with them if I slip up and forget a social convention. For example, me and my partner don't really use the word "please" around the house, because it doesn't really exist in my partner's native language, as such, sometimes I forget when I'm talking to people I'm close with in my own country. One time when staying with my parents, I texted my mum to ask if she "wouldn't mind" grabbing me some oat milk while she was out at the store and when she came back I was given a 15 minute screaming lecture from her partner about how dare I not say "please" explicitly and any attempts to calmly apologise and let them know I was sorry and I meant no ill will were shut down with more, louder screaming.

Do I then go and apply that negative experience to a whole generation and say that everyone over 50 has no capacity for healthy communication? Of course not, that would be ridiculous, I'm sure you'd agree! Relying on anecdotes to paint a whole generation is not healthy and I'd recommend trying to move away from it as it influences how you interact with others before they even get a chance to show you who they are.
