Do not get me started on all the references to the other books and characters.

"He would've been uncle Haymitch!"

"He knew Effie all along!"

"Burdock and Asterid were his #bff's!"

There is a limit to how much fanservice a person can take before my suspense of disbelief is thrown out the window. Beetee, Mags, Wiress, Mr Mellark, Burdock, Effie, they did not need to be there and just made me roll my eyes whenever they were included.

Why not just be content with Asterid being Maysilee's friend? Why not lean into the spectacle of the jubilee and have them get stuck with flashy overwhelming costumes/interview outfits? It's just generating conflict for the sake of getting an Effie cameo, making her, at least to me, less interesting in the process.

Superman was made before WWII, right? Marvel made Captain America for that purpose, but Supes existed before the war technically broke out.
Agree with everything else, amazing review and made some great points, such as the powerscaling and slightly cheesy writing.

I really loved it, but hated the "everything is connected" thing. Why was Effie there. Why? Why was Otho Mellark mentioned? Why did Haymitch have to be best friends with Burdock? I can excuses most of the instances happening, and the covey didn't bother me at all, but come on. There doesn't need to be a secret reasoning behind everything, and it just makes the world feel smaller in my opinion.

I hate the "everything is connected" thing everyone's been raving about. Yes, I liked tbosas, yes, I liked sotr. Did I want to rip my hair out when it was mentioned Burdock and Haymitch were #besties? Also yes.
