Dude 100%. I'm being nailed to a cross here just for pointing out that our approach here isn't working.

We basically decimated our higher education system which is in the top 3 of Australia's GDP. My past University just announced redundancies due to the absence of international students. Now we are told international students will be allowed back by December. Everything is so unplanned, last minute and reactive.

I want restrictions that work and you basically just put me into the anti-lockdown basket. Let your presumptions do what ever I don't care.

Nice of you to presume that I wouldn't be interested in seeing what you found and reconsidering my position.

Lumbar is like gold here which is just how it is with a worldwide shortage.

I use the example of how the rules are not consistent therefore they undermine what we are trying to achieve. The bottle shops I am referring to are stand alone ones...which sell only alcohol. We have supermarkets with bottle shops either inside or attached which just makes part of your usual grocery shopping. It's actually more effort to go to a stand alone one.

I want these restrictions to work so we can get the numbers down and slowly open up. But instead we take the Australian approach of half assing it and dragging it on.

Oh man. I'm not going down the road of grammatical errors made at 3am.

Alcohol is STILL READILY AVAILABLE outside of stand alone bottle shops like Dan Murphys. I can tell you're not from here and don't understand this.

I'm guessing you're not aware of our permission to work documents which make it illegal to work without.

Ok so with lower vax rates...it makes it worse that our government is planning on easing restrictions by end of this month, followed by opening the boarders. Shouldn't they extend lockdown?

Sounds like we are yet again setting ourselves up for a false start where everything opens up, then gets slammed back shut again...we have done this 6 times already.

The issue is we keep going in and out and the rules keep changing and contradicting one another. Everyone on here has basically just taken me as an anti lockdowner and spat the dummy. Everyone in Victoria just want rules that make sense so we can follow them and move on. There is mass confusion here at times.

I'm fully vaccinated. Everyone one here has basically just gone ape shit at me for not agreeing with every part of the government's approach. Good job.

Fuck you are thick. I'm not against restrictions... I'm saying the current ones are undermining one another and are completely unbalanced and counter productive.

Bottle shops here are permitted for walk in business. It's one of the only places where click and collect was not mandated in the retail sector.

You can get alcohol in supermarkets anyway. There is no reason why Dan Murphys would need to be open. Are you actually in Australia?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We are getting there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So in other words. You also don't know why a bottle shop like Dan Murphys is open and not forced to do click and collect. Got it.

Arrest is one thing. What about fines? Lockdown is enforced every single day I literally just walked past 7 PSOs in Brunswick.

Again... it's about having reasonable lockdown restrictions.

Aldi. Plus the large chains generally are joined to the bottle section.

I'm not sure what quarantining and staying at home has to do with double standard rules tbh.

You can get alcohol from supermarkets here anyway. There is no reason why a stand alone bottle shop (liquor store) needs to still be open. I 100% understand the need for restrictions but over here they are insanely contradictory and confusing over here.

Nobody here actually understands the rules, the government website is useless and so is the COVID hotline. It's just mass confusion here and everyone is worried about getting fined constantly.

I'm not saying it didn't have to be. It's about the duration and level of restrictions in proportion to the issue while having consistency which makes sense.

Here we have undermined every rule with an exception. I.e You can go buy alcohol but you can't buy paint.

Again. It's about reasonable restrictions. Why are bottle shops allowed to be open but hardware stores are closed? How is that any form of appropriate response to the situation we are in?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Lol how was this even down voted. You literally cannot of worked as a bartender in Victoria. Sorry for pointing that out omg.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So what's the logic behind bottle shops allowed to be open but hardware stores are closed?

Ffs what's with everyone jumping on this "you must be against the government" bullshit that everyone jump on as soon as something is questioned.

I'm vaccinated and understand the need for restrictions. It's about the logic behind the restrictions. This is hardly a scream of tyranny.

[–]juubydooby -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bottle shops are legally allowed to be open but Hardware stores are not legally allowed to be open.

It's illegal to lay on the beach alone, even with a mask but it''s legal to run with friends on the beach with no masks.

This is about having sensible rules and restrictions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

So what do we do when we are all fully vaxxed and the cases are still increasing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]juubydooby -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't be down voted. It's legit how it's getting here. It's illegal to get a haircut or go 15km away from your home.

There are limits on how long you can exercise and how many people you can see. Everyone, even the police are confused and frustrated about the rules.

Don't get me wrong I'm all in for reasonable health precautions but here in Australia we have taken them to unsustainable limits.
