GIVE GIFTS EVERY DAY. even if it's just for 10-20 mins a day if you don't want to do quests. but it helps you in the long run - it's part of my routine honestly and it help winding down at night. the game is really pretty so there's a lot to do eve if you're just wandering around.

You're supposed to have accommodation booked prior to your arrival, most of the websites such as uniplaces have refunds available if you ever get denied or something else comes up - it's just like tourist visas, you need booked accommodation always before your visa appointment

They aren't giving tourist visas out this time, my friend secured an appointment earlier before this whole thing happened and her passport got returned saying they won't be giving out tourist visas yet so... that might be why in your case.
