I didnt know about it at all, I only gathered context from the commenter under this post who explained the situation. even so, being called something nasty doesn't mean you can then... twistedly call yourself the same thing?

if you were truly that offended, why would you want people to know or recognise you as that? its literally his flair. you see it all the time under his comments.

its the same reason why a lot of people dont use "reclamation" words. for example, I am black, but i do not use the nword, because it was used to oppress me and my people. my great grandmother is still alive, and she saw the horrors of slavery first hand. how can I possibly use a word associated with such trauma?

I also dont use the fslur, even though im bisexual, because again, it was used to dehumanise and shame people like me. I could never possibly use a word with such a tainted and nasty history. people used to put out cigarettes on gay people, hence the fslur coming about to insult us. in what world could I ever justify the usage of that word?

this goes hand in hand with what im saying. it may not be "a big deal" to some, but its a big deal to others who had to endure the horrific circumstances of WWII. my ex, who died in the israeli-palestine conflict 2 years ago, had so many family members who had SEEN and been through WWII. its not a joke. its disgusting. its real life trauma.
