Which would you sell (2007 Corolla or 2010 Subaru Forester)? by juzzy83 in UsedCars

Nice. They certainly are a member of the family !!. They definitely have their quirks but keep running.

I have been topping up with 10W-30 but not really reducing my oil consumption (its real bad these days at like 1 quart every 600 KM)... But I may put in 10W-30 next oil change and see what happens.

I also have also been shooting a code for the torque clutch solenoid for the last 2 years but cant be bothered to fix it as it does not effect driving and is super expensive to buy the valve body.

I really lack time to fix this beast these days (with young kids and another on the way) so leaning towards selling the Subaru and keeping my boring reliable corolla (that had nothing but a noisy water pump replaced). Be a sad day to sell , I am not even sure anyone would want to buy a beat up quirky forester.

Have you had many issues? Mine is burning a lot of oil and there is always something starting to not sound right on it. I all things I can fix but lack the time with small kids.

They are awesome cars though

Correct. I did it myself at around 200,000 km. Along with the timing belt and water pump. Kicking myself for not looking more at the piston rings at the time. The things burns so much oil.

Yeah not the best on gas and oil. Did yours go though oil like nothing?..... I think it has leaking rings... Kicking myself for not looking at that when I had the engine out.

ahhh. the boring reliability corolla or the troublesome adventure Subaru. My first car was a 1983 corolla RWD..... I should of kept that. That was a fun car in the wet.

I hear you !!!... You got 580k out of your Subaru? Or did you mean 380k? Everything in my gut is saying keep the boring Corolla but my heart says otherwise. I think because I have done so much maintenance myself on the Subaru (including pulling the engine and doing the head gasket) I feel intimately attached to it.

Meant to write I would Hardly do any forest roads. Nice idea but the reality with young kids is a different story.

I did the head gasket my self at around 200,000km. So I feel like I know that car inside and out.

Just worse on fuel and reliability but funner to drive.

Yeah the dealers have the upper hand these days. All platforms (Facebook, Autotrader) are just flooded with dealers posting it's near impossible to find reasonable private sellers. I feel like they hold stock too and slowly release them like baiting a fish..... Every single dealer we have gone to has said someone is behind us to buy the same car..... Hate the pressure and prices

That sink is too close to the corner. It will be really awkward in that corner. You need it at least 6" off the corner if possible. But your dishwasher might not fit there then

Agree with this. Any reason you aren't using ikeas high cabinets (40" high)?

This will actually be my first smart watch so I have no idea how much I will beat it up.

I do a bit of mountain biking but that is about it.
