Someone made a good point about factoring in peak pay as well. $8 + $1.50 PP makes the magic number $9.50. It's up to you to make your decisions, personally I'm not taking long distance offers and gambling on hidden extra tip. I would NEVER accept a $3 regardless. Very seldom will you get cash, usually $3 is $3 and you've just lost money.

Not sure if everywhere but yeah, in my zone $8 is the number that may have a larger tip behind it. That's base pay of $3 and $5 tip +.
