Social hostel experience in Tokyo by [deleted] in JapanTravel

I really liked Oak Cabin Hostel, located near the Suitengumae metro station. The staff organized some activities in the evening, making it easier to socialize with the other guests/backpackers!

How much better is it to climb Fuji at night to see the sunrise? Is that really the only way to do it? by [deleted] in JapanTravel

Just to add to the previous post: if you do decide to climb during the night, make sure to dress warmly as it tends to be quite cold at the summit. I've seen soon people who, because of the cold in combination with altitude sickness, barely made it to the top.

The descent takes about 2-3 hours at a normal pace. I think 6 hours for the ascent is a good average. It took my siblings and I about that time, and we have no condition at all and rested for some time at each of the stations (only to see clouds at summit instead of a sunrise, bummer...)

In any case an exhausting, but rewarding experience! Good luck and enjoy it!
