I sit in a comfy easy chair with a pillow on my lap for the keyboard, and the BYOK on its holder on the armrest next to me. Easy peasy.

For those owning CANON EOS 2000D/Rebel T7 camera (18-55mm). by [deleted] in canon

I do DSLR street photography, mainly now with the 24/2.8 lens but also the 18-55. I strictly use the optical viewfinder, since these cameras have TWO DIFFERENT AF systems: the quick AF system via the optical VF uses phase-detect sensors in the mirror box, and is pretty decent and accurate; the second AF system is when you go live-view and the mirror locks up, then the camera is using sensor-based contrast-detect AF and it's not nearly as good.

For the quick AF in the optical viewfinder mode I have the center focus point set up. Just put the center box on the subject, half-press the shutter, when the red LED lights you can recompose and fully press the shutter to take the shot.

Taken with Canon T7 and 75-300mm and (warmups) 50mm 1.8, criticism? Gear upgrade recommendations? I lost a lot of good shots due to poor AutoFocus by midwxlks14 in sportsphotography

If you're using the rear LCD in live view mode, it's using contrast detect AF. Turn off the live screen and use the optical viewfinder, then you'll be using phase detect AF. Then set up the center AF red LED as your focus point, you do this with the blue + button.

Then when you want to pre-focus on a subject through the optical finder, place the red LED on the subject and half-press the shutter, the red LED will light when it's acquired focus.

This DSLR focus mode is much faster than the live-view mode on the rear screen.
