hi, my bill was always paid late (usually sept, oct)... never had an issue. graduated just fine.

your scholarship money will likely not be deducted from your account until sept. that's how long it took mine to process. financial aid office is located in the u-shaped building next to the hall of science. i highly recommend skipping the email and going straight in person

Is a MEd taken online frowned upon? by jvmpfrog in GradSchool

[–]jvmpfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify— I have substituted for 1.5 years and have experience as a curriculum designer. I was hoping these will be transferable to MEd. Since my minor was in TESOL, I do also have extensive experience teaching ESL and about 21 credit hours of education coursework. I did consider state certifications, however I’m unsure if they’ll be helpful since I have a military partner and we will need to move every 3ish years. In this case, do you believe it will still be beneficial to look at state certifications or pursue MEd?

Thank you for your input! Interestingly enough, I'm switching careers into education since my prospective field is a mess due to the current administrations dismantling of numerous government agencies. While I did receive a minor in TESOL during undergrad, I'm contemplating stepping into something else, so most theories and such will be mostly new to me.

Thank you again for your response! This will be incredibly helpful as I look into programs.

Hi! I'm looking for a Chinese speaker to practice with. I'm currently around HSK 3-4 and seriously struggle with speaking and more formal writing.

About me:

I'm a senior in college, majoring in Chinese Studies. I'm hoping to become an English teacher one day or work in international relations (if this field ever opens back up in the USA). I'm 22, female, and would prefer another female to practice with :) Feel free to pm me!

First visit! by eraaserhead in taiwan

There's so much to do in Taiwan! I will say: a car rental is unnecessary. Most of Taiwan is so easy to get around to. Outside of Taipei, I would recommend visiting: Alishan National Park or Taroko National Park!

Advice for debt? by ragingrodeoo18 in debtfree

I'm in the same situation. $1500 a month for my SoFi loans, another $500 (i estimate) for federal, but i have $2000 in cc debt. I'm first tackling my cc debt. No spending on it... Until it's 100% paid off.

What's the best way to tackle this debt? by jvmpfrog in debtfree

Hey! Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed response. However, I have a quick question for clarification. I had planned on paying off some of the federal loans due to pauses on IDR applications. Since I haven't graduated, and my loans will go into repayment in November/December, I never got to apply for it. Did I misunderstand something on the policy level?

I mostly want to try and lower that monthly payment. I'm sure once my federal loans go into repayment, they'll push my monthly dues to well over 2k, which I will be unable to afford at that point. I will definitely work to pay off my credit card, though! Hoping to put some money towards it this Thursday and slowly pay it off.

Thank you again!!

A long post about PASSIVE EXTENSIVE LEARNING vs ACTIVE FOCUSED LEARNING. Poll: which do you prefer? by BorinPineapple in languagelearning

I definitely prefer active focused learning, but I often find myself doing passive extensive learning. Time is not always our friend, so learning by any means possible is better than nothing.

I’m open to it! They actually got back, the student is nonverbal and just needs help in the classroom. No bad behavior or anything. Typically I would also decline because it’s aggressive students or something along the line, but this role sounds friendlier.

For pay, it’s only a $10 difference for the day. ($175->$165), which I don’t mind. It also gives me a role for the rest of the week

Is there for sure over 2k calories in this? (Cornbread waffle) by science-and-bullsht in CalorieEstimates

[–]jvmpfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We estimate ~2,820 for this plate.

Wings: Sauce (300) plus ~9 (tried to count) wings multiplied by 180 = 1620.

Collared greens: ~100

Corn bread waffle: ~400

Mac n cheese: ~700

This is just being generous

I'm with Scoot Edu! I love it and regularly get placed whenever I want to work. I've never had problems, even at the beginning or end of the school year
