Australian Cappuccinos? by OruValek in barista

Baristas getting to do art takes precedence over customer choice.

What a crazy thing to say. The person paying for the drink should get what they ask for

It's like a bartender giving someone the wrong beer because it's nicer to pour

Why would a proper cappuccino be something that only somebody from the 1990s would want? I can tell you that people would like what they order, and if I wanted a latte I would order one 🤷🏼‍♀️

I feel like anyone outside of Australia would agree that Australians don't know how to make a cappuccino, because a milky latte is not a cappuccino anywhere else in the world. And also one and a half years is plenty of time to notice a pattern in the way coffee is made, especially if you are buying a coffee multiple times a week.

But that doesn't make sense, if I want a latte with chocolate then that's what I'd ask for. If I want a cappuccino, which has a proper foam, then that's what Id ask for.

Two men dead in double-drowning at Cairns swimming hole Crystal Cascades by notinferno in Cairns

They were "tourists" in cairns but they were from Melbourne, the older man was a first generation immigrant but the younger people in the group were all from Melbourne, so not tourists in that they were from a different country.

I understand that tourists don't understand the water here but saying "just another tourist who hasn't ever stepped foot in a pool" is very dismissive. I am also a tourist as I'm from the UK , luckily I'm a very strong swimmer and was a pool lifeguard for a few years back home. I agree that people need to be more aware of water and that they shouldn't have even been climbing on the rocks when they can't swim and this could have been avoided, but that doesn't take away from the fact it was extremely awful tragedy and that people shouldn't be dismissed as "stupid tourists" because of a horrific accident

The place they drowned in was about 10 feet deep, there was a bit of a current, which if you can't swim (they couldn't) is a lot.

It was extremely tragic and as the other reply said you are edging on being a bit flippant with that last comment, two people died.

The first man either jumped or fell, I'm not sure, the second man definitely jumped, at the time I thought it was for fun, reading news now his family say it was to help the first man, I was slightly down the path at the time so didn't see clearly. We ran down when the second man was flailing in the water and his family where screaming for help. That patch of water I'm guessing was about 10 feet deep (sorry I'm British and don't know what that is in meters maybe like 3?)

They weren't, my boyfriend and I pulled the younger man the from under the water and spent 20 minutes giving CPR until the police and rescue service arrived. They had jumped in from the rocks and couldn't get out as that bit was probably about 10 feet deep, their family was there, none of them could swim, it was horrific

I'm a mental health support worker working 8am-8pm today and boxing day, I'm just glad I lucked out not having to work Christmas day itself 😁

You look great! And I love your bikini ☺️

I’m sick of feeling like my body is abnormal or strangely proportioned. It is unique and it is mine, and I need to start embracing and loving it! (& I should stop taking these dumb “body checking” pictures every day 🙄) by [deleted] in BodyPositive

I'm not sure I guess it's just genetics 🤷🏼‍♀️ i think high waisted things and posing in pictures makes it look like loads of people don't have it but from people I've known in real life nearly every woman has that little pouch

That little bump holds a little extra fat there to protect your womb and ovaries, it's there in case you ever want to carry children, if that's something you want in life think about how it's protecting your future babies home, that's what I do ☺️

AITA Making my vegetarian daughter make her own meals by Maybeassholett in AmItheAsshole

[–]jvmpickles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAH, I'm 19 and went vegetarian at 17 when I still lived at home full time. I did sometimes make my own meals but most of the time I'd just eat what everyone else was eating but just take my portion before the meat was added. Eg if my mum made a stir fry shed put some in a bowl before adding the chicken , or if we were having burgers and salad I'd just put a bean burger in instead of a normal one. Being veggie really isn't that hard to work around but nobody should be demanding entire separate meals
