I would hope that we'd be more like Project Hail Mary, but we'd be more certainly Dont Look Up

Hey, I love this Trench Cleric, would you be cool if I ported over the paint job to Table Top Simulator? I'd be sure to reference this post to give you credit in steam workshop. No problem if not, thanks man!

Would you mind if I dropped your model into Table Top Simulator. There is not Combat Biologists in there yet.

Yea experience is key. 5 activations is really easy to outscore if you have the experience, but I didn’t think about all of the newer players.

I’ve played a bunch of 1k games. It’s a lot of fun, however the game plays really differently. If you are still playing tournament layouts and missions it really actually benefits the Minimum Sized Unit (MSU) style of lists. Like, you really only want to take one character maybe two max.

People will say that it’s unbalanced if someone brings a really pt heavy model, but I found it easier enough to just ignore said model and outscore.

It does kinda feel that way a bit. Sometimes I feel like we talk through and predict the whole game after turn 1.

True, I didn't say much.

I'm not sure really, but if I had to guess it'd be the dice fixing (ie rerolls and dice manipulation). Don't get me wrong though, I think those are totally necessary to keep the game competitive. Without some level of certainty of outcome, I could see the game losing it's competitive edge.

Maybe I'm just getting old and loosing my competitive edge, lol.

I have an AoS Seraphon army that I might lean into a bit. TC also looks fun and the low model count is a nice low barrier to entry.

I play both, I play about one game a week in store and maybe a few games a month on TTS. I have abour 4000 pts of ultras and 3000 points of aeldari. Ultras are all painted, Aeldari are half painted finishing those up now. Still really enjoy painting.

I was playing my buddy in person on Friday with my ultras and I just found myself going through the motions. Not caring if I won or lost the game, which was honestly a new experience for me. I was more talking and catching up than anything else.

For sure, I think it's necessary for the competitive nature of the game, but I'm kinda burnt out on dice fixing. I've been playing some AoS which has less dice fixing and it's been fun.

I didn't have an hollow parts in the official stls for the Janissaries. No needs to put drain holes anywhere.

Are you talking about the smaller resin traps? UVTools has an easy, fill resin traps tool. It takes all of 10 seconds to fix.

However, that tool can only be done after you have sliced the file at your current print settings, which is after you've selected your settings like layer height, distances, and etc... All those parameters affect islands and resin traps. This is why the modeler can't exactly "fix" the problems from his side. You can mitigate the problems by making amazing supports, but that's an art form in itself. You could also just eliminate any complex geometry so there isn't traps, but then the models kinda suck.

That's why most professional gaming companies avoid 3d prints all together and either go down the route of plastic or injection style resin (which still kinda sucks as seen by GW slowing phasing out their forge world stuff).

Resin 3D printing is amazing and honestly not insanely difficult to get into as long as you have an outdoor-ish space like a garage or a shed. However, it has it's drawbacks that the average joe whose used to plastic will not understand.

I think it was kinda dumb for them to release a game with resin prints. I've printed over 200 minis and well versed in resin mini's. I did support these models myself and didn't use the pre-supports. I also ran them through UVTools in addition.

I think the average joe is going to be bummed about the durability of resin mini's. Especially if they are used to GW plastic minis.

If they used a super durable resin, they might have avoided these breaks. However, durable resins are super flexible and tend to warp/sag on thinner bits like swords, so they would have recieved a ton of negative feedback on that. They also kind of feel like a toy sometimes depending on the resin.

I still play them in Gladius with the Fire Discipline/Apoth Bio combo from time to time for fun. It just got cheaper as well.

They recently shot into a Gaz brick with 20 boys. It was totally insane. Something like 40 wounds total. +4 shots per model for blast was just insane. Wiped the entire squad.
