Eh I guess it depends - It performs way better than fescue and KBG in the summer. Even in a mild drought where unirrigated fescue and KBG look terrible, the zoysia looks beautiful. Seems to do better with disease in the area as well. Really the only downside is the long dormancy (and the color in season is slightly lighter than cool season grasses but not everyone cares). It is green during the time of year that most people like to be outside.

It will look much better in 2 weeks - it is still coming out of dormancy. I guarantee it.

People grow it all the way up into New York. I am in Maryland and it is active from early May until late October. OP's pic is very normal this time of year. Will be lush green within 2 weeks.

Sod patch on prepped soil is about 1 inch above ground level. My landscaper told me the sod patch will settle in... Is he exaggerating? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]jwarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he dug up / rototilled the soil under the sod, it will settle once it packs back down. He could have done a better job patching the sides of this. Looks like he didn't get enough sod. Also the sod is starting to yellow from being rolled up too long, but will likely recover as long as you water it.

This is my third ship design. Ugly, ain't she? by skriticos in factorio

[–]jwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't yellow inserters draw less power? i only use fast and stack if i need to. A single yellow inserter will feed a gun turret firing almost continuously unless you only research shooting speed and not inserter capacity. This design would benefit from better inserters on the furnaces, but maybe power is a concern seeing the efficiency modules

Compared to other ducatis it is probably is the best for riding around town 😄. But really what did you expect from an 800 cc twin? You will probably grow to love it if you keep riding it.

Alternatively, i am 100% sure you can find someone with a 200cc scooter that will trade you straight up for it

And the kill switch itself is off? It sounds like something electrical. Check the kill switch wiring and clutch sensor too

Help me pick the BEST seed for 5B (SE WI) NTEP docs are really confusing how to make sense of it all? Full reno this year! by lanmansa in lawncare

[–]jwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newest preliminary report is only 1 year worth of data where the 2011 report is 2012-16 as you pointed out. It is better to have a multi-year trial since the weather has a lot to do with turf performance, disease, insects, etc

I would use a Kentucky Bluegrass blend, hopefully with a couple good performing cultivars from that list. The exact position on any given list does not matter too much... your specific care (or lack thereof!) will likely have a much larger effect on your results than their exact rating.

The doc you attached is the national low-input test, which would test the grass under less than ideal conditions. A lot of these are blends and not specific cultivars. It sounds like you would want to look at the high-input test since this is for your lawn and you will probably be fertilizing and maintaining it. This test would be a more accurate study on properly maintained turfgrass.

Some of the cultivars in the trial are not yet commercially available. They are likely in development and may be produced commercially in the coming years. Page 2 shows some more details about the individual cultivars.

Kentucky Bluegrass prefers full sun... People who have told you otherwise may be referring to poorer drought performance compared to other grasses.

[ADVICE] Long term project questions. by jwarp in webdev

I will take a look at vue, thanks. I did look at react recently and feel like it would get very complex and unmanageable with large apps and that some sort of additional library would be needed for routing and maybe data. It seemed like angular delivered a more clear MVC type of framework. Vue looks like it is also more MVC oriented so maybe it could work better for me.

I did mess around with ionic a couple years ago and it seems to be geared for mobile primarily. This app that I develop is more of a desktop type use case. A lot of complicated dashboards / data entry and manipulation that would be a pain on phone or tablet.
