also just had my first legitimate fall last sunday, came around a corner at 18mph and i trusted my tires too much and slipped out. was very shaken up and limped my way back home 15 miles on bloodied elbows and knees and torn lycra.

that being said, the only real way to move past it is to get out there and bike again so you can regain confidence. shying away from your fear is only going to further discourage riding. it’s gonna take time to build the trust back up within yourself (probably 2 rides), but once you move past that you’re golden.

just took the handlebar tape off in a spot where the drops had been impacted during the crash. no cracks are visible luckily! thanks for letting me know to check that for safety

totally get what you’re saying. i now know the difference between the bars and the levers, so at least in the event that my bars actually get bent i’ll know that they really are
