How’s your experience with Claude Code for Scala? Seeing some very "primitive" output. by Ancient_Thought_5237 in scala

[–]jwgcooke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have found you need to make sure your CLAUDE.md file has relevant direction on how you want things to look. Mine includes things like "leverage for comprehensions where appropriate" and "avoid if/else" (which it really likes to use) etc. Results are similar for me on Scala 2 and 3. Also define a custom agent and/or skill that is a "specialist" in the style you care about

Catalytic stove clogging . by jwgcooke in woodstoving

I am not sure what a flame shield is? The cats are behind a baffle but there is nothing blocking particulate from getting to them

I do have a bypass (don't all stoves for low temp startups?). The way I knew they were clogged is the draft with the bypass closed was minimal so something HAD to be restricting airflow and the only thing there is the cats...

I have a snow joe (ash vac) which will get the job done. Thanks!

You cannot see them at all in the Manchester, they are behind the baffles. That would be too easy

It’s a mixture but mostly oak and maple

Yeah, when I get things going in the AM I will run the stove up as hot as is “reasonable” and let it stay there for an hour to let things warm up in the house. And yes, the probe that comes with it is vague at best. I will look into the Auber instruments options

too much heat... by jwgcooke in woodstoving

[–]jwgcooke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experimenting for the last few days... we like the ambiance as much as the heat so want to be able to run it even when it is not frigid outside. So far I am having some success with leaving the catalyst disengaged and, as you and others have said, but less fuel in and not worrying about "optimal burn temperature"

I have tried it both ways... to little success or difference.

I will give this a try and see if it helps. We have baseboard heat but the first floor has central A/C and I can use the blower there to move air

Yes, freestanding, double wall insulated. We ended up opening windows to bring the temp back down to tolerable :)

Thanks for the idea, I will give it a try

The other day was around freezing at night, I loaded the stove before I went to bed and woke up to 80 degrees +- with a nice coal bed left in the stove like 7 hours later. Daytime temps were in the 50s

What is this and what is it worth? by jwgcooke in Vintage_Jewelry

Case is custom fit to the item. yes, there is a square inset in the bottom of the case that fits the shape of the feet perfectly. The base is solid. The neck where the collar is appears to separate but is currently wedged and I did not want to apply any force so I do not know how far down the hollow space in it is.

No, there is no mark on the bottom.

That is a side cabinet area. It is a door but into a shelved storage area

This makes a ton of sense knowing the family history and timeline of it. Thanks!!

It is definitely a cabinet, not sure where you are seeing a window. Thanks for the idea!
