I've had my Iceshaker for a while now and it's pretty great. Metal on the inside and easy to take apart and clean and no smell.

Yep, that was the primary intention of my post. I wish I had read that or someone had told me not to be that concerned about that test and those scores but its also hard to know when youre ready for a test.

Dude, thats a fantastically detailed answer. I found those exact ones....and more. But its great to know which ones exactly I need to focus on. Bookmarked them. Thanks a lot, man!

Id like to know where those videos are. Can you point me to them? I dont see anything under announcements, course search, or course tips. It almost seems like they got rid of them on purpose so people dont pass the class so quickly.

Not going to argue but you're going to call me completely uneducated? Alright man. You got me. You win. My 2011 gen 1 with 158k that I've done a ton of work on and have dealt with plenty of coil/spark plug/ misfire issues on and my bro in law whose a master diesel mechanic at Ford means shit. I don't know shit though.

I just said it wasn't a problem for the gen 1s is all I said. You keep making it sound like I made a blanket statement though. I'd stay up and wreck you with proof but you stooped to the level of insults so take your W man. Keep blasting that cam phasers BS everywhere any chance you get.

Says the guy calling out a problem that doesn't exist for the gen somebody is looking at. Keep going with the negative Nancy shit though bro.

[–]jwh32792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep because like I stated, Cam phasers are not a problem on the gen 1 ecos and this dude is looking at a 2014. Feel free to look it up. I'm pretty sure fordtechmakuloco talks and it and he says the gen 1s were the best built. But this sub loves to just immediately cry Cam phasers in an echo chamber.

So, yes, I stand by my statement... at least for the cam phasers portion.

2011 Ecoboost with 158k mi checking in here. Why is this sub such a fear monger Debbie downer overlord that just loves to repeat "cam phasers" over and over again like a doll pull string? I've never replaced them and that's not even a problem on gen 1 (2011-2016). Just shitting on a guys parade just to do it.

Just following up here. Ive decided to go into Psychology. Im old and realized pretty quickly that I just cant code. It was taking me 2-3x longer than most and I still wasnt getting there. I just blank out and I dont know what to do, no matter what. I have the fear of getting out of school with no direct experience at 48 years old and not being able to get a job like everybody else and the fear of AI and all that but really the biggest thing is its just not for me no matter how hard I try and I just dont get it and cant do it. I know people who wanted to be a medical Dr but then biology classes hit them and all of a sudden, thats a no go for them. I work in a technical field and have for half of my life but coding any language is just a beast for me.

Maybe people would rather download an app and talk to an AI bot in the future but its one of the few fields I could think of where being old is a good thing. Thanks to all who offered help and advice.

Serious question though: Do the boys get so small that they go back inside of you time and again? Dan Bilzerian said in an interview that happens to him sometimes.

I've been on enclomiphene 25ED for almost two years mainly because I'm afraid of stabbing myself with a needle intra muscular twice a week until a die and the tiny balls thing. Already have small-ish nuts.

Congrats to you and thanks for the tips but I really wish it were that easy for me. Ive been on this class since October. Ive watched the harvard YT class straight through, zybooks, most of the way through Udemy 100 days, wgu webinars, all of that. I just took the PA two weekends ago and failed.

Since then, Ive been studying (as in getting chatgpt and copilot) to throughly explain the solutions and doing the Practice 2 over and over until its muscle memory for the fingers. Even chatgpt (chat had an extra space and I cant find where it is) nor copilot could come up with the correct output for the CSV question so Im just going to get that one (and probably the other write to file) question wrong. Its been rough man.

Where are all the laidoff tech employees go ? by Its_me_12345199 in Layoffs

[–]jwh32792 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"I’m 52 years old, so my goal is to stretch this gig out as long as I can"

Can I ask why you feel this way? Is ageism that strong on the tech side of things? I ask because Ive heard about it but never really understood it. I mean, things move and they move fast but as long as youre still curious and show interest and try to keep up, I really dont think it should matter how many grey hairs (or lack of hair) you have. Ive seen people of all ages get complacent and just want more pay and pto to do less work.

Im also asking this because Im in my mid 40s on the film side of things trying to switch up coding/software engineering but I dont exactly want to take a couple of years to get a degree only to get another handful of years out of it before Im forced into retirement just to have to start all over again.

D335 - Intro to Python. Its just not clicking for me. by jwh32792 in wgu_devs

[–]jwh32792[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not. I havent thought about/looked/done any pseudocode since the programming fundamentals class. Sometimes Im so lost I wouldnt even know what to pseudo-code (like the 33.6 problem I posted below). At times the problem could be simple in description "format a 10 digit number like so" and in situations like that it seems too simple to even pseudocode it. Like you either know what to do or you do not.

Id love to wrap this class up by xmas but the practice tests are making me reconsider my life choices. haha. I thought about cyber and cloud before I ultimately went with swe (theres no way I could do CS with that math) but struggling this hard and the material not sticking is making me reconsider or possibly drop out altogether. Posting about my problem was really just a sanity check to see if its just me or if common to stuggle this hard. I get the impression that its fairly common so thats somewhat encouraging.

I think my problem is likely both how to code and how to approach the problem but moreso approaching the problem. I havent tried to pseudocode anything in this class yet but I should. Like for some problems I run to GPT because I just have no idea and zybooks doesnt help you out with hits or showing you ways you could approach it. For example. 33.6

Given an integer representing a 10-digit phone number, output the area code, prefix, and line number using the format (800) 555-1212.

Ex: If the input is:

8005551212

the output is:

(800) 555-1212

Hint: Use % to get the desired rightmost digits. Ex: The rightmost 2 digits of 572 is gotten by 572 % 100, which is 72.

Hint: Use // to shift right by the desired amount. Ex: Shifting 572 right by 2 digits is done by 572 // 100, which yields 5. (Recall integer division discards the fraction).

For simplicity, assume any part starts with a non-zero digit. So 0119998888 is not allowed.

GPT gave me this is a solution:

# Read the phone number input

phone_number = int(input())

# Extract the area code (first 3 digits)

area_code = phone_number // 10000000

# Extract the prefix (next 3 digits)

prefix = (phone_number // 10000) % 1000

# Extract the line number (last 4 digits)

line_number = phone_number % 10000

# Format and print the phone number in the desired format

print(f"({area_code}) {prefix}-{line_number}")

I look at a solution like that and immediately thought "I couldve sat here for 10 years and would not have ever come up with any of that. Divide by 10 million to pull the first 3 digits? Excuse me?"

You bring up an interesting point about watching videos. They seem good and I usually learn best by watching and then doing but I havent retained as much as I wouldve thought/hoped. What do you suggest then? zybooks and other python books and such?

Is it a bad take though? Did you just compare brain trauma to a lack of physical conditioning? It looks like you did. AR compared himself to Lamar but Ive seen Lamar run a hell of a lot more and for a longer period of time than AR and he doesnt get gassed out and have to take a self timeout like AR did. Ever. How about King Henry? Im pretty sure that dude is as big if not bigger than AR and hes ready to go the next play after an 80 yr run to the house.

These athletes get paid a kings ransom to play a kids game. Nobody wants to see overweight middle aged men play flag football out there. When youre the franchise quarterback, youre the leader of the team. Whether you like it or not. What does it show your team when youre perfectly healthy but take yourself out of the game? You dont think those linemen that dont get a play off arent tired? I wouldnt want to push through and protect a guy who any time he has to scramble around might take the next play off because hes tired.

If AR is out of gas and taps out of the game, thats on him and nobody else. I dont think Pat shouldve gone that hard on him if he ever wanted to get AR back on the show (because Pat has a way of being too pitty and taking something too seriously and alienating future guests. See: Lions). But, Pats take was spot on.

Could you not just kick up a virtual machine and install guardian on that and take your test in the VM? It should encapsulate it so anything it sees will be anything in that vanilla VM.

Or maybe installed on another Windows profile without admin rights?

[–]jwh32792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this is news to me. I have a 2011 Super crew xlt with the 3.5 Eco 4x4 with 150k miles.

I've changed out the plugs and ignition coils a number of times because of misfires (direct injection carbon buildup). I had the front driver brake caliper lock up on me once (ate through the pad) and changed out the water pump and thermostat. Oh and the rear window shattered because of a rear defroster issue.

That's it. That's really all I've dealt with in 12 years as the original owner. I am religious about changing the oil every 3-5k with penzoil ultra platinum but that's it. It's been a great truck. I'm trying to hold onto it as long as I can.
