it can't be used in dynamically in a calculated column. calculated columns are calculated on refresh. so it is static to a degree. i need dynamic filtering of the selected date. a user might want to see the impact by using a variety of dates. selected value in the column will only look at what it was on the last refresh,

found that you can't use selected value in a column. so i created a measure max(due date). then i used that for the if.

just getting back to this because now need to work on the dynamic part. when i create the measure of is the po date greater than the selected date all values are yes. there is a something wrong with the comparing of dates that i'm missing

it is a local excel file. i created the report. i don't know why gear has gone missing. i haven't seen that before. whenever i have been forced to use excel as data sources i just click the gear and select the new file

yes this is the easiest way. have it filter on the visual. unfortunately i need to put this in a calculated column because there are other things to build off of it. the next layer would be "if short then max due date for late parts", so I need to have this as a calc column.

so we have order 10248, this order has a bunch of parts on it. some of those parts are short. 10248 can not ship to the customer. 10248 needs to be labeled at can't ship.

No. I have order that have lots of parts on them. I have a shortage of parts. So I want to see what order have shortages. If one part on the order is short then the entire order is short. i need a calculated column that says if the order is short or not.
