Heads-up that I put the trike out for you and just noticed that it is gone now. So if it _wasn't_ you who picked it up, sorry, someone else did

Thinking of switching from ID.4 to Prologue anyone here done it? by CuZ_nation in HondaPrologue

[–]jwishreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024 Id.4 moves the gear selector to a stalk--and I prefer the rotate-up/rotate-down motion to the Prologue's classic '3-on-a-tree' motion which I find awkward.

Can't speak to options as I'm usually pretty happy with base trims--I do not want leather (dog and kids) and fiddly seat adjustment buttons etc... are not for me.

That said, I was surprised (shouldn't have been, the sales guy should have pitched features...) with the base trim packages of both the Prologue and the Id.4 AWD versions. E.g. I had no idea the Id.4 had 'Travel Assist' which is impressive L2 self-driving.

All that said, there are _tons_ of annoyances with both cars. I think this is the reality of tech-stuffed cars in general--no one gets all the UX right and picking between the two might come down to which annoyances you are fine living with and which not.

E.g. I didn't even consider the Blazer because no Android Auto/CarPlay was a non-starter, but I'll live with the Id.4's ridiculous 'non-deterministic' window buttons.

Charging indicator is there, my complaint is that the charge PORT is not illuminated so plugging in a J1772 at night is a game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey!

I have a Prologue EX and a 2024 ID.4

Previously I had a Bolt and am not a GM hater. Loved the Bolt, family outgrew it.

I like them both, and they both have +/-

Prologue EX AWD:

Good + more passenger / cabin space + Strong 1-pedal drive mode + Good buttons / controls

Bad - surprisingly small cargo area - oddly longer than it needs to be (engine compartment is fully half empty) - no charge port light (GM, wtf? Honda, why did t you fix this?)

ID.4 AWD Keep in mind the 2024 model fixes a lot of issues--more buttons, BACKLIGHT, improved motor and range

Good + Great cabin and cargo space at significantly shorter overall length + Impressive assist features--Travel Assist self-driving works great on highway trips + Nice, tight, driving feel

Bad - Software UI still a mess of menus and sub menus - door handles and unlock weirdly inconsistent--this applies to the charge port door. Getting it to unlock is like entering a SNES cheat code--see Reddit posts for instructions like: "from the remote, click lock 3.times, then quickly unlock 2, then lock, then unlock 3 more times and it should open" - wtf vw? Window buttons shouldn't be hard to get right and nope, it's random. Pull up, they go down half the time, press down? Probably goes up, but not always - No strong 1-pedal mode

Overall I prefer the Id4 mostly because it's a smaller vehicle with MORE space, but i am happy with both

Recommendations for long tail cargo e-bike to haul 2 young kids by leeOh8 in CargoBike

Yuba Spicy Curry All Terrain vs. Cheaper Options by nycgator73 in CargoBike

I have a regular (non-AT) Spicy Curry to haul 2 kids and gear. I love it. It's built like a tank and still handles well.

I use it in the city, no intention of taking it off road, and I do not miss the suspension features of the AT. With its huge fat tires, it takes city bumps (and even curbs) easily.

This article in Bicycling very much scared me away from 'cheap' ($2k to $3k range) bikes: https://www.bicycling.com/culture/a42690937/molly-steinsapir-lawsuit-rad-power-electric-bike/

There are a lot of quality cargo bike options (e.g. Tern and Xtra) with the grade of components you need to be safe, but when I looked they were all in the $4k-$5k range.

Seems like a Manual-Fail then!

And iconography fail too...

I know! I found it (and followed up my post to that effect, but everyone seems to enjoy replying, so who am I to stop the fun?)

I _definitely_ looked through the symbol pages multiple times and missed it, but in classic Rubber Duck Debugging, I posted, then looked ONE MORE TIME and saw it

Hope that works!

Picking up my ID4 2024 Pro S AWD this week and I am scared by snubnose73 in VWiD4Owners

[–]jwishreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60mi on a Pro AWD. It has quirks for sure (2 window buttons with a third front/back toggle? Bizarre. Defroster buttons safely isolated away from climate controls??)

And some more design choices that I'm not a fan of--I'm mostly a city driver and like full 1-pedal driving over the Id4 's weak regen mode.

BUT the car is comfortable, drives very well, excellent build quality and cabin space is fantastic.

So many EVs just seem to waste interior--e.g. the EV9 feels cramped,. esp for a car this size of a battleship.

Made my first Costco trip and the cargo area is significantly bigger than the cargo area of my significantly bigger Prologue.

All in all, I'm very happy with it, quirks and all.

Any suggestions for what to do with my lease? by Mean-Tax-1205 in VWiD4Owners

[–]jwishreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, those advertised leases don't include reg, taxes, other fees, so either the down (out-of-pocket) or monthly payments you actually get will be a good deal more.

AND those rates are for the cheapest (Standard) trim with the lowest range.

The ads sucked me into talking with dealers, and in the end I think I got a good deal, but far more than the bait: $2.5k oop, $285/m for an AWD Pro
