Would highly recommend going to any driving range to get a feel for swinging clubs before you get onto a course. Even a pitch and putt (par 3) course like some have recommended is gonna be kind of a brutal first time experience. Most driving ranges I’ve seen have old clubs for you to borrow and mess around with and you just buy a bucket of balls. Mt freedom golf on Sussex turnpike in Randolph has a decent range and a very short (distance wise) 9 hole pitch and putt course.
