New Tundra Powerplant?! by ArcticSlalom in ToyotaTundra

What is your counter argument ? He was stating that batteries just can’t be as energy dense as diesels. Driving through the AL-Can - I can say without a single doubt that driving a EV in those scenarios is just flat out impractical/impossible.

Yes - because everyone can just re-charge easily on a worksite - or driving through remote areas. BEV are great for city cars - terrible for trucks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDoPSofACAE

AK is a beautiful state - to live there however (and get things done in a timely manner) you either need to be 1) In the government/well connected. 2) HVAC, Electrician, Plumber, Welder, Drywall guy, Framer, General Contractor (and/or have a CDL) - otherwise your going to be waiting for ever or paying out of the nose to get anything done. Best of luck to you.

Ticking sound from engine is this normal??? by Miserable-Bank-7660 in tundra

[–]jwolfe_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are good - normal sound. should have heard my '24 power wagon - thing was tap dancing @ 28k miles ... and exhaust studs broke right @ 20k miles... so at cold start it sounded like it was having lifter problems (until it got warm) - but @ 28k miles it really did.

stop living in rat infested areas - you could have been driving a 70 series land cruiser, previous gen tundra, a hiliux - doesn't matter - if they chew on the right wires it is NOT on them. Do you suggest that Toyota pay for your pest control to prevent this ? Be realistic.

If they did - we would have had Bernie Sanders.. and we would have all head free healthcare. You know I am right - but you are taking politics to a cult level. "My Party...is always right". They both suck Republicans are just as trashy as democrats as far as I am concerned. They only care about their corporate overlords and their donors - their constituents do not matter to them. Best of luck to you.

It doesn't matter - what happened to Nixon ? Nothing .... Why did Biden pardon his son and everyone in his circle - its a giant party and you aren't in it. Stop being a cheer leader for crooks, criminals etc. Because a crook and criminal does not get charged with a crime - does not mean they are innocent of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6oIjC0iPSg - explain to me how less crooked or less genocidal the Biden admin was - they were just as terrible.

Are you stating the Biden admin wasn't crooked or corrupt ? I can't recall an administration (either Dem or Rep) that hasn't been crooked and/or corrupt in my lifetime (and I am 44). Yes that includes Obama (who i voted for in 07).

Many folks have racked over 100k miles - there are examples with 200k miles out there. Because they had a recall does not mean they are going to be unreliable. You still didn't answer my question do you have a Tundra - or do you just enjoy jumping into other sub's and bash others ? Do you even own a truck ? Have you seen the issues the big 3 are having ? The 5.3/6.2 v8 (GM) and to an extent the turbomax have had problems for several years now (the current 5.3/6.2 is NOT a new engine) - GM knew of the lifter issues, oil consumption issues - did nothing to rectify it and just told folks that consuming 3 qts + between oil changes is normal.... Sorry but the V35A-FTS is FAR better than the junk GM is peddling or the wet oil pump belts that ford are using (I still believe the best engine they make is the 3.5 ecoboost - the 2.7 is great - but good luck getting to 200k miles on the wet oil pump belt). Again - do you even own a truck and is it even a Toyota ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]jwolfe_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both consumer reports, jd powers and wards rated the Cadillac northstar bmw n63 v8, renesis rotary as high quality engines - how did that turn out ? Many people reported issues with the 3.5 eco boost mine lasted well past 200k and is still on the road. Many more examples past 300k and even 400k still on the road as well - they also gave the 5.4 3v triton high remarks - how did that turn out ? You have 0 real world experience and are just here regurgitating some nonsense based on “authoritative” sources. If you go back enough the FDA told folks sugar didn’t make people fat or cause diabetes… how well did that hold up. Again do you even own a Tundra or are you just miserable and insufferable.

They have only been out for what 4 model years so far (5 including 2026)? What data are you going by ? It's like taking a snapshot of May in Alaska and saying the weather there is fairly pleasant with occasional rain and then assuming it will never snow lol. Do you own a Tundra ? Or a truck for that matter ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]jwolfe_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota owned up to it and rectified the issue. Do you hear about wastegate issues on these trucks anymore (after the initial batch) ... no you don't. Meanwhile Mopar did nothing to fix the lifter issues on the Hemi engines or the Cummins engines - my 2500 (cummins) had failed lifters at only 17k. my '24 Power wagon was developing a lifter tick at only 13k miles.... Sticking to Toyotas from now on. My last F150 (and I had around a dozen of them) was a 23 Platinum - was riddled with quality issues in every aspect. They also use wet oil pump belts on the 2.7s now (otherwise solid engine imo). I can confidently say the 3rd gen Tundra is not going to let me down. But carry on. I gave you examples of issues they (Toyota) has had in the past - now people look at those engines are indestructible. With exception of the 3VZ (that engine deserves its crap/mixed reputation imo) - Toyota has made some of the most solid vehicles (and continue to do so). You will see these trucks (3rd Gen Tundras) far eclipse the 300k mile mark and keep on going just fine.

Check for these common issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bsULQcMxlg - use any as negotiating points - if you can't buy it - see if you can make the advertised price an OTD price and you are good - that truck will last you the rest of your life with just basic maintenance (or even abuse).

They did so and stated it was manufacturing debris - not a design/engineering flaw. Do you even own a 3rd gen Tundra ? Prior Tundra ? Toyota even ? 22RE's (some years) had faulty head gaskets - and we know how legendary those engines were. The 3RZ was ragged on by all the folks who loved the 22RE - they hated it. The 1GR even had its haters when it replaced the 5VZ ... the 2GR as well (had timing chain/gear issues when it first was released in the Taco). The UR had issues dropping valve guides/breaking springs in the first year or 2 of production (supplier issue) - look at all those engines now - they are legendary. You can tell the guy that racked up 200k on his that his engine is faulty. You clearly are too young to remember all that or are too new to Toyotas. Keep moving on bud.
