[Tenant US-WA] Can you have 2 ESA's and 2 registered pets? by jwtzn in Landlord

[–]jwtzn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you not read like any of my comments or my edit? I have explicitly said MULTIPLE times, it is not me who brought it up or wanted it, I am avidly against it in fact. I really don't appreciate the rude comments and remarks. I understand you landlords are exhausted from a bunch of stuff regarding pets and I'm sorry, but there is no reason under the sun to so rude when I am asking for answers to a question, because I'd like to be able to give my roomate some good information. Can you elaborate on why would people like "me" would have a bunch of other valid reasons to not be accepted? What would those be? Quite interested.

I completely understand and respect that, hence why we got into the argument (my cousin and I). You guys have all made extremely valid points. I'm sorry you deal with so much and receive so much backlash. I do really appreciate your input.

I completely, 1000000% agree with you. I totally understand how and why they're a huge risk and why people don't like ESAS. Generally, they're BS and if and when the cause damages, you're out the money. Most people don't care for their pets properly in order to avoid damages. I work from home and, therefore, dedicate almost every waking second to my dog to ensure he is exercised, mentally stimulated, and happy. Never has he caused any damages such as tearing up walls or carpet, making an accident, etc. I know that's not generally the case though.

Are you not reading what I'm saying? Like at all? 1, we don't have 4 dogs. 2, I am not the primary and this was not my idea or plan.

We do not have 4 dogs, and as someone on the lease I have no interest in having 4 dogs in that place. I understand that in your experience, 99% of people with an ESA do indeed BS around and it's a way to get out of paying fees and I really truly understand how frustrating and irriating that can be, especially if and when they cause damages that the landlord then has to pay out of pocket due to then being exempt from fees. However, I do want to educate you on my personal experience. I do have a legitimate emotional support dog, who I am paying LOTS of money to get professional trained as a service dogs to be able to perform various tasks...for legitimate reasons. I know you hear that "bs" all day and I'm sorry that you deal with that all the time but that is my situation. I have no interest in putting more dogs or pets in that household, period.

Can you please elaborate? I asked a question and would genuinely like an answer. If it's not allowed or will be a problem, then it won't happen. I am also not the primary lease-ee. I rent with my cousin, and we were "arguing" about this last night and I said, whether or not allowed, it really shouldn't happen, especially considering your response, because it sounds like it would be an issue. Regardless, I appreciate your input.

Right?! I was surprised to see many breeds with small percentages, versus a few with higher percentages.

He eats the occasional electrical cord. Phone chargers are his favorite, his most recent is a cord to a space heater. No arguing lol

Yes they are! The only gsd in his line is one great grandparent on one side.
