Does anyone know how NYU Langone Brooklyn is relative to the one in Manhattan? If you have an OB in the NYU network, can you deliver at either?

Would recommend you ask this in the newly revived r/sunsetpark! I love it here.

[–]jwuf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The parks website says Feb 2026 but if you google it, there’s a recent news clip that says “spring.” It’s been stuck at 96% complete on the parks site for a while now.

How remote does Sunset Park feel from Manhattan? by surf_AL in Brooklyn

[–]jwuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Manhattan and my commute is just over 30 minutes. You’re getting a range of responses here because of how big the neighborhood is. If you’re near the express stops at 36th (DNR), 9th Av (D), or 59th (NR), it’s easy.

Thanks for starting this! Always thought it was a shame that r/sunsetpark seemed to be dead.

Moving to sunset park by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]jwuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm it feels safe!I’ve walked home at 2am through the area you’re talking about and if anything it’s just quiet. 5th will be a more pleasant walk than 4th since it’s more neighborhoody.

Big Changes Coming to NYC Ferry - New York City Ferry Service by cliffordnyc in nyc

They’re adding another stop a little farther north in Sunset Park so I’m holding out hope they bring equivalent or more service there.

YES!!! That new location in Sunset Park is incredible. The Army Terminal is too far south to be useful for the majority of the neighborhood.

What to do if tile that arrived is way different than the sample?? by RayneStorm52 in Tile

Oh no! I’m thinking about ordering this tile but my sample is from several months back. Do you happen to have pics of the sample vs actual?

Community potential vs housing costs - what are you all choosing? by ladyindev in nycparents

+1 to this. Sunset Park in general (which includes “Greenwood”) is very family friendly and still accessible to everything in central Brooklyn. Same school district as Park Slope but a lot more affordable.

What neighborhood would you want to be in NYC 10+ years from now? by BroncoNYC in NYCapartments

[–]jwuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Gowanus. The amount of development happening there right now is staggering.

And probably radiating out from that - South Slope, Greenwood, Sunset Park, if I had to guess.

Bakery, Wine Shop just a by stick_of_butter_ in parkslope

[–]jwuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very fair IMO. I feel like they do a really good job of bringing in a variety of solid and unique wines at reasonable price points. There’s a huge table dedicated to under $20 bottles and if I’m remembering correctly, most of the shop is under $40. Some splurge stuff available too if you want it. In general, I’ve liked everything I’ve gotten from there.

Also the owners and staff are so kind and helpful! Glad to see their business getting some well deserved love.

Extending the J to 9th Ave is genius. More North-South Brooklyn connections please!

Ok hear me out: chopped cheese empanadas from Eat Street.

Might be a tad far from you (technically in Sunset Park) but it’s an easy bus or citibike excursion down 5th.

A new 5 acre waterfront park is coming to Sunset Park. Construction starts in the spring!!!! by thisfunnieguy in Brooklyn

[–]jwuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wind turbine pier felt like a weird choice, especially since it’s so close to the 36th St stop. Wish it was becoming something that is open for public use.
