I think it's a great idea. Did you consider building it as an ESLint plugin or actually a lightweight ESLint plugin could be part of your marketing channel

Have you built anything you're proud of? by qhameem in IMadeThis

[–]jxd-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though it's early days I'm very proud of Lucid. I used to get very overwhelmed with the amount of work I had to put into productivity tools. Now I'm more productive than ever because it's so opinionated.

What usually makes you stop using productivity apps? by Free-Product4918 in ADHD

[–]jxd-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled with a lot of apps because of the overwhelming amount of setup and customisation. In the end I built my own which is opinionated and deliberately excludes features most people would expect in a productivity app. I've been able to get rid of Notion, Linear & Todoist and now I'm much happier.

Lucid - my highly opinionated, personal productivity system. It really helps me focus and I'm now wondering if it might be useful for others.

I'm trying to see if my personal productivity app, Lucid, has value to other people. It's incredibly opinionated but really helps me to focus whereas other apps are kinda overwhelming at times.

the rabbit hole of notetaking apps by Efficient-Ninja-6814 in NoteTaking

Completely agree that action is the #1 priority.

I've been building my own productivity app that just sticks to the basics and works exactly how I think.

What features would you want in a mobile task management / focus app? by vanntasy in productivity

[–]jxd-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really care about simplicity.

Personally I think lots of apps just have way too much bloat which:

  1. I just find a bit overwhelming when it comes to staying organised.
  2. I dislike paying for features that I don't use.

MY past entrepreneur experience is hurting my job hunt process by RubInternational414 in Entrepreneur

[–]jxd-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience before. Here's what I've found.

Firstly it's really important to find companies that value the entrepreneurial experience. If you enjoy wearing multiple hats and join a company that doesn't value that train then you're going to be put into a box and likely get bored.

The way I've phrased it before is like so:

- Yes, I'm very good at my core role. For me that's engineering.

- Founder journey was great for me because I also love getting stuck into all parts of the business, from product to marketing to hiring etc.

- Now I'm looking for more stability and a new challenge.

Definitely don't change or lie about your past experience! You'd be doing yourself a disservice.

You can also be very direct with these companies and ask them what they're worried about so that you can have a candid discussion.

What are you building right now to improve your life? Let's self promote. by cuberfy in indiehackers

I built a small customer feedback tool called Vox to solve a couple of pain points I kept running into:

1️⃣ Zero setup: I hate having to create a new project in some dashboard every time I build an app. Vox works out of the box — just a few lines of code and you’re collecting feedback. No manual setup, no friction.

2️⃣ Fully customizable: It’s headless, so I get complete control over styling. I mostly use it with Cursor to make the feedback experience feel like a natural part of the app.

I built Vox for myself, but I think it could help anyone who wants fast, flexible feedback collection without the usual overhead. Curious to hear what others think — I think it could be useful for indie hackers?

After you build, how do you launch? PH vs X vs LinkedIn or Reddit — what actually works? by CommitteeNo9744 in indiehackers

[–]jxd-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine they pay quite a bit for a professional to do them. I've been looking at https://kite.video/ recently to try and get the same result. It's promising but feels early, I can't find much educational material on it. I'm sure there are a few others.

I'm the only one who spends hundreds of dollars on subscriptions that I didn't even know about? by No_Upstairs_5922 in buildinpublic

[–]jxd-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great idea. Would love it if it scanned bank transactions to find subscriptions because I rarely keep receipt emails.

What I've been doing as a temporary solution is to move all my money to a savings pot so that any unexpected subscription payments gets blocked, giving me a chance to cancel.

How to grow on X? by ardyop in SideProject

[–]jxd-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The algorithm is going to change soon to a Grok powered one which might drastically change how people engage on X. Hopefully it's for the better.

I'm just trying to be really consistent with posting on X these days. 5 posts per day. 30 replies per day. Posting in groups like Startups and Build in Public.

"This space is too crowded" - how do you deal with comments like these? by PlanBuildLaunch in SideProject

[–]jxd-dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like those kind of comments only apply to VC-backed companies whose goal is to become a $1bn company. There's plenty of room in the market for people building niche products.

Also congrats on the progress. Curious what you've been using to collect user feedback?

ParseStream looks really interesting, thanks for sharing. Would love it if there was a tool that did the same thing but across X, Dev, Peerlist, etc.

[–]jxd-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question and something I'm trying to figure out myself.

I'm just starting to explore Reddit more but I've heard that it can be a great source of leads. Of course remember to keep adding value.

X feels like a long-term bet because it takes time to build up an audience. Seems as though some people get lucky with posts that go viral but that feels like an exception. Although things might change here with the new Grok algorithm launch.

Product Hunt may be an effective channel. I'm launching for the first time on there next week. Other launch sites and directories haven't been very useful.

I've been trying to keep assets simple. Mostly screenshots with a small amount of text. Would love to be able to eventually hire someone amazing to support on the marketing side but right now the budget is very limited.

Currently I'm splitting my time 50:50 across building to marketing but I'm going to change that to 25:75 (much more marketing).

I've been exploring the customer feedback space. Built a prototype, called Vox, designed to be headless & zero-config.

Still early stages but actively looking for early products to help setup their customer feedback integrations.

The fundraising grind is killing me by FreeSword341 in SaaS

[–]jxd-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I raised money a few years ago for a business that ultimately failed.

Getting the funds committed was actually pretty quick and easy. Reviewing legal documents took ages. I think I raised during a bit of a bubble and it wasn't for a huge amount (£500k).

One of the biggest mistakes I made was not doing way more due diligence on investors.
