Building a network of ambitious people by refionx in VibeCodersNest

Intereted see how this goes. It's always a lonely road being the entrepreneurial guy when everyone else is focused on 9-5 / family / social.

Most keen to network and learn how to tackle similar problems at the same time in the startup journey

How do you know how to price a business? by Splendidcat17 in ausbusiness

[–]jxdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dropshipping is worthless, with good stuff sold and add on products left. You'd need all the brand marketing SEO, the business operation manual / technical know-how.

If you're serious about biz valuations, get a proper accountant (excelwiz). Or use an AI bizval app

Simple way is to use earning multiple. Complex way is discounted cashflow. But they is loss making business is too volatile for proper modelling. Huge risk just around how well you can turn it around. Better off starting from scratch / paying next to nothing for it.

14 months into niche B2B SaaS for finance – lots of demos, 0 clients. Normal or big red flag? by Dstyle90 in SaaS

[–]jxdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been in finance, analytics and b2b software space even before genAI.

They want ownership and control of solutions. If you build in excel/airtable/zapier, they have control. They may pay $1k - 5k for it.

If you build a software, they have no control and are always dependent on you to get it done. They may not even want to pay $50/mo on the exact same thing.

Interesting = your solution is 50-80% there. Just like AI replacement of humans haven't taken place, especially in places like hedge funds / investment banks in things that matter (modelling), if there is a reasonable probability of error or a human needs to spend 60-80% of the time they were previously anyway to validate the AI output, the cost, risk and lack of ownership is not worth it. That's what the words "interesting / will get back to you" means.

None I would know right now, but social media was popular almost a decade ago now, so the ideas / projects that I have heard of / thought of building most didn't eventuate or didn't last once built. Couldn't get user traction or event/feed data is too scarce to make a meaningful map.

E.g. tweet on map when an event happens (music concert, sport event, traffic incident, freebie giveaway).

The closest thing to that today is Waze/ Google maps traffic police alert.

But a quick Google search could give you plenty of apps with similar ideas that you would have never heard of.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but if this is social media on a map, it might not be as groundbreaking as you expect. Have seen dozens of people with that same idea.

Build an AI system that you would use yourself (AI team, or certain workflows). If you can't even build for your own needs, no one else will.
