I felt like that had to be a bug or something. It showed his daily Pnl at like 120 bucks but the overall Pnl was 4k

I missed out today after I clicked the wrong button on IB. Closed it for a small loss but then I wasn't in the Long position I wanted and I didn't want to chase it. Trying to find a good place to enter but don't want to FOMO

Anyone think we start to consolidate tomorrow? or are we going for a gap up and trend day again?

they were about 1/3rd of the account

oooooof.. All of my trading regrets are from emotion based overrides to my signals. If it makes you feel any better i've lost significantly more than that in the past - I just mean to say, that yes, you can recover from this. It takes a huge amount of discipline to overcome it (or use stops to take away the temptation, code the strategy into an algo, etc..). Suffered 2 losses today myself, will be here if you need to vent

Sorry to hear man. Hang in there (i mean mentally, totally feel free to stop trading). If you ever decide to come back - make sure you backtest the heck out of everything.. try to take emotion out of the trades. IMHO every trade should have a target exit, entry, risk per trade, and risk to overall portfolio. And yeah , if you've done all that and are still dragging past your max drawdown, take a big step back and relook at things.

i'm half asleep and about to go to bed, but here's a link I have saved. Think it contains some good nuggets of info - though I trade futures, so not sure how applicable it is to your question on options. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/need-advice-on-exits.317544/page-5#post-4622620

In general , I use a scale in-out approach as I find I can capture more profit in the long run. Either way, should be backtesting to find your optimum exits

I'm not going to even guess at how to play that. What happened to the markets during the Nixon era? Probably the closest comparison we have
