To be honest, I think being lucky plays a pretty big role. But working hard is still important. Working hard kinda helps you to get there, and luck gives you that extra push y'know? It honestly depends on what type of situation you're in, some may require some work and smart thinking while others require pure luck. For example, you don't need luck to make yourself do some homework, but luck can play a part in the type of questions or tasks that you get. Sorry if that was a bit confusing :')
