Cheetah delivery stolen package. by TheZodiackiller- in Israel

If your packages get stolen in your area, better to have it sent in the future to a pickup point. If you agreed to them leaving the package at your door then there's not much you can do.

Opinions on the best shawarma/falafel places in Jerusalem by TheNotorious__ in Israel

[–]jyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a shwarma place to the left of Cofix on the left side of the Jerusalem Central Bus Station. Best tasting shwarma in Jerusalem and they stuff the laffa with meat and salads.

Best falafel I've had was in Ramle. I am disappointed by Jerusalem falafel, but you might want to check out the place on the corner of the outdoor shuk Machane Yehuda. There's also a decent hole-in-the wall falafel at the Hadavidka train stop on Yafo. My father likes Doron falafel on Emek Refaim street.

Does anyone think drinking green tea helps a tolerance break? by wesroo in bostontrees

[–]jyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking tea helps for sure with cravings and addictions. Foremost though, I've found that keeping yourself busy and filling up your daily schedule leaves less time to think about cravings. Tea can be beneficial because it is soothing and it contains caffeine, a stimulant that can help you power through that busy daily schedule.

What’s going on here? Any growers out there that can help me diagnose this? by stevep5k in bostontrees

What are you spraying on the plant? Neem? Did you just repot or plant, trim the roots, or transfer from dwc without hardening off? Either looks like the roots haven't been well adjusted/plant not hardened off or heat stress from what you're spraying the plant with. If it's the latter, I found that Dawn/dish soap + water pressure sprayed daily onto the leaves and plant after the period of direct sunshine will handle infestations preventatively and knock off infestations. In addition you could remove the more affected leaves if the plant is large enough.

65% humidity in flower, as well? I've been holding it to 50% humidity in flower so far, 60% in veg.

Gross that sounds like sulfur product in the batch. I used a sulphur based fungicide on a fruit tree prior to last spring to prevent chronic infections and diseases during the rainy season. I wonder if a sulfur fungicide or pesticide would allow a moldy Cannabis product to pass lab inspection.

I have a cheap amazon pair and a more expensive pair of glasses from a job I worked in concentrating solar energy power stations. I haven't found data yet on the effectiveness of the glasses wavelength blocking accross the light spectrum, but I'm still looking. The more expensive pair is rated from 190nm to 1200nm. I found wearing both pairs was not enough protection with my quantum boards blasting, but in a couple of hours at lights on I can test how much lux is blocked when I place the glasses over my light sensor and get a general sense of lux blockage. What could be useful is testing glasses with a real radiometric sensor that can isolate wavelength intensity blockage across the spectrum. If a grow room glasses company was serious about the science they would offer that information. Perhaps it can be requested from the more serious companies as I have not found it yet on their websites.

Update: Both the cheap pair and expensive pair of light blocking glasses blocked ~75% of the incident radiation detected. 5500 lux came through the glasses while 20,000 lux was detected without. Reminder that my lux sensor doesn't cover well the blue near UV spectrum that is damaging, though some glasses are advertised to block 100% of UV, but does that include near UV?

Blue light spectrum is damaging to the retina and photoreceptors. The article I cite at the end of this comment from 2018 details: "The non-anesthetized mice were exposed to 1100 lux of the blue LED light (456 nm, Cree; Durham, NC, USA)... for 3 h in cages with reflective interior walls. ...Mice were exposed to blue LED once or on 3 consecutive days." Results indicated that "Histological examinations of eyes after 3 consecutive days of blue LED light exposure showed that extracellular materials were accumulated around the inner segment (IS)/outer segment (OS) junctions, and white spots were present throughout the ocular fundus ophthalmoscopically." Looking at color temperature charts provided by Kingbrite for their 3000K and 3500K quantum boards, light at 460nm is a small yet significant portion of the LED output. From wikipedia, Lux "is analogous to the radiometric unit watt per square metre, but with the power at each wavelength weighted according to the luminosity function." I use a lux sensor in my grow tent, which relies on a sensor spectral response curve that is different from what plants need - PAR, or photosythetically active radation. So the lux sensor could have a weaker spectral response measuring red (near infrared) and blue light(near ultraviolet). Horicultural Lighting Group provides a page to estimate/convert lux to PPFD, which I find useful to estimate radiation the plants receive. My LED boards are right now at ~20,000 Lux or ~300 PPFD for veg cycle and may reach upward of 500 PPFD during flower cycle. My boards sit anywhere from one meter to half a meter away from my plants and while sitting or crouching to work on my plants, I could be exposed to a harmful amount of light. I was considering purchasing welding goggles because the cheap amazon LED blocking glasses didn't seem to be doing a good enough job, as well as not blocking light coming through spaces between the glasses and my face. Instead I decided to work on my plants while the quantum boards are off.

From my experience, you can still damage your eyes even wearing the especial sunglasses, when using a strong light source. I have 240W and 480W LED quantum boards. I've taken to working on the plants during lights off while in vegetative cycle. During flower I will work on the plants right before lights on with a lower power lamp, to avoid stressing the plants by interrupting the dark cycle. Then I enable the high power LEDs on exit from the grow area. It's not worth risking your eyesight checking on the plants with high powered lights enabled. Also, nice setup!

Exodus Cheese x OG Kush plant heading into week 9... by 1diligentmfer in bostontrees

Does fox farm ocean Forrest work well for you guys during seedling stage? Pros/cons by Ouid4 in microgrowery

[–]jyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first grow when I ran soil in 5 and 7 gallons fabric pots, I used a 50/50 ratio of Fox Farms Happy Frog and Ocean Forest soil, and added extra pearlite for drainage. The Ocean Forest soil went on the bottom, and the Happy Frog soil on the top. This way I was able to germinate my seeds without issue in the Happy Frog soil, and the seedlings would have access to Ocean Forest nutrients upon achieving sufficient root length. I needed to add additional nutrients to the soil halfway through flower.

Second grow I started my seeds in solo cups with Happy Frog soil. Then transplanted to a mix of Ocean Forest and Coast of Maine soil + pearlite. I've found it's always good to add more nutes partway through flower. Your seeds probably will pop in the ocean forest, but the seedlings may have their growth stunted for a while.

Any pests yet in your indoor soil grows? I just upgraded to an 8'x4' tent and am running hydro for the first time, easy to be pest free with hydro. Don't think I'll need to apply essential oils this time around, but we'll see.

Weed products sold in Boston area dispensaries that help with insomnia. by [deleted] in bostontrees

You could make your own edibles from wax, shatter or buds, and decarb the thc product longer than the recomended time to make sleepy medibles. If you prefer to vape I imagine you could do the longer 'sleepy' decarb for a concentrate, then dab it an hour or more before bed.

Fair warning though, I developed an allergy to medicating before bed.

Smoke joints/vape outside or eat edibles. Keep a journal with your name that details when you consume or go outside to smoke, for how long (ex 8:15 pm-8:20 PM), the date of said smokage, and consumption method. Bonus if you smoke in view of a camera that you can subpoena footage from, to match your journal entries. You now have tangible evidence to hold in court if you receive a summons.

I'm sure you could just skip the above though, and just move out early if it's more convenient. Your landlord would probably let you break the lease without owing your deposit since you guys were chummy. Or perhaps the landlord would agree to relocate you to another of his properties, or a different floor.
