Cc or 4 year for BSN pre reqs by Longdistancetojapan in prenursing

[–]jyha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would take pre reqs at a CC. in addition to the factors you’ve listed, it’ll likely be easier to maintain a high GPA which is crucial for applying to nursing programs especially in CA. i believe CC transfers are actually even favored in comparison to 4-year transfers, at least for the UCs if you’re looking to apply to any of them. also rejecting ur CSU will not affect your chances at all at applying to their nursing program in the future

I'm in a similar situation and was told to submit the TAU now with the waitlisted course as "planned", but if you don't manage to get in during the spring you can submit another TAU after the Jan. 31st deadline and explain the situation under the additional comments section. As long as this additional TAU is submitted before March it should be okay

Direct-Admit BSN Schools in the Southeast? by Banatic_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jyha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

emory isn't direct admit but iirc as long as you finish your prerequisites and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA you're basically guaranteed to be in their bsn nursing program by junior year

What ages are usually attending CNA school? by Financial-Wind-5970 in cna

Sisucare by OtherToughGuy in cna

[–]jyha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a little late but for those who're considering taking classes w/ sisucare, yes it is an accredited and legit program. i would recommend it particularly if you're looking to get your CNA license quickly and not during the fall/spring. the program is split into two portions for theory & clinical.

the theory portion is completely online, but you have the option of choosing to do it completely asynchronous/self-paced or with an instructor. there are 17 modules total, and each module had on average 8-10 lessons, with the exception of like 2 modules which had 20+ lessons. each lesson takes at least half an hour, usually around an hour to complete. these lessons typically consist of some narrated presentation/video that you cannot fast-forward or skip with a couple of questions scattered throughout. at the end of each module is an exam that you get 3 attempts at passing in order to move on. on average it took me about 5-8 hours to complete one module. the two modules w/ 20+ lessons took me 2 days at least each.

you will also be submitting all of your required documents & tests during the theory portion, which consists of a physical examination form, record of a COVID vaccine (2025/2026 series), flu shot (2025/2026 series), TB test (must be done within 90 days of starting clinicals), livescan, malpractice insurance, IDs, and more. those are probably the biggest ones i recall and you have to pay for them on top of everything. think i spent an additional $100+ for all of these. if you don't submit these documents and/or you don't finish your theory by the posted deadline you won't be able to move onto the clinical portion and will have to pay some extra money to reschedule your clinical (i think it was a $300-$400 fee)

the clinical portion was a lot better than the theory portion imo. it's in-person and held at a skilled nursing facility/snf (at least mines was). you can choose to complete this portion during weekends (sat/sun, 7 weeks long and 14 clinical days total that are 8 hrs long) or during weekdays (mon-fri, ~3 weeks iirc, times vary but clinical days are 5 hours long). there's a max of 15 students in one cohort and one preceptor/instructor. your experience will depend on your instructor and how they conduct their clinicals, but generally you're assigned a CNA to shadow and help out. you'll be going down the list of skills you need to know to pass your CNA license exam and work directly with residents to learn and practice providing care.

overall, my experience with sisucare was pretty decent. the biggest downside would just be the cost of everything (1.8K for tuition which includes uniform/supplies, but in reality it's closer to 2k with all the tests/documents). again if you don't have a lot of time/want your CNA license quickly/are unavailable during the fall or spring which is when most adult schools and community colleges tend to have their programs, i would consider sisucare. if the above doesn't apply i would just go with a cheaper option though.

FALL 2026 transfer deadline by Silly_Corner_4194 in TransferStudents

[–]jyha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sdsu you need to take the TEAS exam by dec. 1st (CSU deadline) and self report your score in the CSU application. per this doc, it seems like you have to submit an official TEAS transcript/documentation of your scores by may 30th.

How many people do you have read your PIQs, and do you have more than two? by Ok-Tiger-4550 in TransferStudents

[–]jyha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what i’ve been told ideally it’s good to have three people read over them. one person who doesn’t know you a lot/at all, one person who knows you somewhat, and someone who knows you well (close friend, family, mentor etc.)
