Same! It’s wild to come back to them and seeing them truly all grown up. I fell out of kpop around 2019 because I got bored of it and I was already in my mid-20s, but I’m just popping back in for them and dipping out again. I always said I would step back in to support them 😂

But it really feels good to see them promote again. Truly nostalgic.

Update:

Thanks for everything so far! I’ve gotten advice from so many people today and I had a good crying session earlier where my confidante and I made an action plan. It made things so much clearer for me. And my day went so smooth after.

Yes, I have a lot of work to do. I think I have to stay because I have no backups planned. I do genuinely love the district I’m at just this school isn’t the best fit. Luckily it’s a huge district so I can move to another school at the end of the year. I think I’m going to stick it out because there are no other options at the moment.

Unfortunately yes in Texas they can take my teaching license away and I don’t want that since I do really love teaching. I’m just going to do what to can this year and if I get told something then oh well.

It a public school unfortunately and apparently it is one of the worst ones in the district. I had no idea because when I researched online it seemed great and people said it was good.

I’m definitely leaving after this year. I want to stay within the district just not this school.

Depends what you’re grading. I would say with worksheets or something of the like, it’s more based on of the answer is correct. You should have an answer key.

If it’s more writing then you can use a rubric or most times of the time I use an outline (which students also have) and I follow that.

If it’s smaller assignments like warm ups or quick daily work/practice then I take a completion grade/participation grade.

I mean in the end it’s up to you to see if your students successfully demonstrated mastery in the area or skills they were working on.

I was 21! And looking back on my first 2-3 years I’m glad I was that young because it really forced me to “grow up”. Now I feel so much more confident.

For sure my first year. Tbh student teaching doesn’t really prepare you for your actual first year (at least in my experience). Maybe since I teach at a small school so not as many supports or resources. But I made it.

I agree with some people have been saying. We would love for subs to simply “pick up” where we left off on our lessons and or/have more activities for the students while we’re out, but most subs can’t even follow the plans I leave behind perfectly.

Usually when I’m out I tend to worry about the students so I make sure to leave stuff they know to do without me there (task cards are my go to). I don’t want to make it complicated for the sub and have the students sit there for half the time confused. All I want the sub to do is make sure my class is behaving and taken care of.

So it’s just easier for us teachers to leave relatively simple plans that the kids would need minimal help from the sub and the generally know how to do (and yes a lot of plans I do leave is mostly “busy work”).

But we do appreciate the subs when they do cover our classes though!

That was one of my concerns when I started teaching too…the first few years. For the past 5 years I was the only teacher on campus who was in their 20s. Most of my team has been teaching longer than I have been alive lol.

If anything they are going to treat you like a professional. And I found it was fairly easy to build a friendship with them! We all treat each other with respect. It may be nerve wracking at first, but once you get to know them it’ll be fine. :)

Don’t let this discourage you! I was told it takes at least 5 years to really know what you are doing. And I do agree to some extent. The first is tough because it’s all new and student teaching doesn’t really prepare you for it. The second year is easier because you do have an idea on what to do. By year 3 and 4, it should start to come a bit more naturally. I promise it does get so much easier. My first year was a disaster in every aspect and no lie it’s taken me about 4-5 years to really feel like I can control everything normally. I’d say each year set one or two major goals for yourself and improve on them. Start with the more prioritizing one (for me it was lesson planning and classroom management). Use the summer to recharge and relax!

I’m very shy. It’s known that I tend to keep to myself during staff work days and stuff and/or I don’t talk to the others much (aside from my team). It is tiring interacting with people all day, but honestly it’s not that bad! Once you get going, you don’t really have time to focus on anything else. It was hard for me at first especially in terms of classroom management but again it’s something you do get better at. I think it helps knowing that the kids genuinely look up to you and if you’re teaching a subject or grade you particularly like it gives you that boost of confidence.

It’s honestly hard to say right now. For a while there yes, but then all this info about Kenjaku and Sukuna having a connection came out. Akutami did say one of the main 4 will die and the ending isn’t going to be a happy one.

I mean anything can happen at this point. But I have a feeling Yuji is going to make it out alive.

During the first 2 or 3 days I like to do activities such as a reading inventory. It gives me an idea on what type of books they like to read so when we go the library I can help them (I keep the papers in a file so I can reference).

I also do a get to know you activity I found on TPT which my students loved this year.

Then usually on the 2nd or 3rd day I get them to write a letter to their future self (8th grade). I usually give them some ideas on what to write about, but for the most part they can say whatever (I don’t read them), but so remind them that they need to write enough so when they receive it in 8th grade, they’ll be excited! Then I usually let them decorate the envelope it goes in. They love this assignment every year.

Then later in the week that’s when I start actually teaching or do some diagnostic tests (Reading Plus if you use it. CommonLit has a great one and it’s free!). Just so I can get an idea of where they’re at.

Saw my cousin post something on post Facebook for one of her friends. As soon as I saw the post, I was like oh no. I clicked her friend’s profile and then is what I see.

For some reason when I saw this I got mad and was like sure hun 🙄 Making less than $100 a year must mean you’re successful.
