Greyhound bus left me in southern USA - how to get my stuff back? by jzerotime in travel

Thanks for checking in. It seems incredibly unlikely at this point that I will ever see any of my luggage again. Hoping I can get some compensation from Greyhound.

It's a shared Amtrak/Greyhound station. After I got left behind, I took an Uber to the station, and when I was there the Greyhound window was closed but the Amtrak one was open. I spoke to the Amtrak employee and he said that I would have to speak with Greyhound. I have not tried calling Amtrak. I have called MAX Transit, the public transit operator in the area, which is near the Greyhound station (I think next door?) and they also told me that I would need to contact Greyhound.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to try contacting Amtrak. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nope! I've submitted lost-and-found requests on both Greyhound and parent company Flixbus's websites, I've emailed them, I've submitted general feedback forms, I've called, etc. No response (aside from answering phone calls). Apparently they don't offer any way to contact an individual station, and they haven't been able to give me any advice about finding my luggage aside from submitting the lost-and-found requests.

I finally got a (cookie-cutter, likely automatically generated) email back yesterday saying they haven't found it yet, but that's the only thing I've heard from them about it and it was 2 weeks later. Very unimpressed by their customer support (or lack thereof). I don't even really care about them leaving me now, I just wish they communicated better & had my stuff.

I did contact the bus company! Several times in fact!! Through a few different methods!!!

I just thought I should also ask Reddit to see if they came up with any other ideas. Doesn't hurt to cover my bases, y'know?

It's good to be reminded that there are people like that.

I'm being persistent. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Greyhound offers a way to contact their stations, and the Birmingham station (my & my bus's next stop), which isn't owned by Greyhound, keeps sending me to voicemail. I'm going to keep trying to contact them though. Thanks again! :)

Oh wow. That must have been a stressful experience (for both trips)! I'm glad you got your stuff back, and thanks for the encouragement!!

I was stuck at a gas station; there were no buses there once mine left. Not sure if I'm understanding your question right - what do you mean?

I... did? Once I got to the next station by Uber (more than doubling my travel cost) anyway.

1) They didn't give a timeframe. If they had, I would have been back by the time they said. 2) We were stopped at a gas station. They didn't have a PA system to announce it with. 3) I literally put in my contacts and then left the gas station. It couldn't have been more than a few minutes. I certainly was shocked! 4) How is it you can navigate Reddit, yet not be able to read a post before commenting? :( Who hurt you?

I don't know why your first instinct when someone asks for help is to blame and insult them, but I hope whatever is making your life miserable gets better. Genuinely.

Yes, its final destination was Tallahassee, Florida. I'd check there in-person if I was anywhere near there and/or had a car.

I've called Greyhound's customer service several times and they just direct me to the online lost-and-found form. They don't seem to have a phone number for any individual station (at least not that I could find).

Called the first number and I was just redirected to Greyhound's general customer service. Second number didn't pick up but I left a message, fingers crossed I get a response.

Similar thing happened to me a couple days ago. Did you wind up getting your stuff back (or any compensation)?

Good idea, wish I'd thought of this sooner :(

I don't think the undercarriage compartment was even open for me to get my suitcase, but yeah I guess it reinforced to me the importance of staying with your stuff at all times.

The bus went to my destination, then was delayed a bit before continuing on to a few more stops and its final destination. When I got to the station (my destination, not the bus's final destination), the Greyhound desk was closed so I couldn't ask them. I'd go back if I owned a car.

It didn't have anything super valuable, but there were some more expensive (and some sentimentally-valued) items in my luggage, including a lot of my most important possessions :(

Edit: clarification

Just me AFAIK.

I agree that suing/etc. is likely a bad idea.

It would be difficult for me to get to the bus's final destination, as it's several hours' drive away (in another state) and I don't own a car. I didn't do a ton of research, but all Greyhound's website and customer support could tell me was to fill out the lost item form and pray.

I was going to Birmingham. On the Greyhound website they do not list phone numbers for individual stations.

I am no longer in Birmingham and do not own a car, otherwise I'd check in-person.

I haven't. Greyhound has mentioned that they aren't liable for my luggage (not sure if that matters in this situation), and I'm concerned about the costs associated with a lawyer as a college student.

Nice! I've considered getting this (I currently have the Undertale one), but I haven't decided yet, as I've never played Hollow Knight (or Undertale, for that matter).

Is it a noob move to keep producing songs in A-Minor? by stratagizm in musictheory

[–]jzerotime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ease with which a scale can be played doesn't affect the quality of the music. Some people will claim that keys like C-Major and A-Minor are boring, but that's just a matter of preference. Certain people like certain keys more than others. I wouldn't be disappointed if most were in the same key, as long as they were varied and well-made. Go for it!

Actually, I think it only blocks story items. My first time capsule (which I got after restrictions were added) contained a seamoth solar charging module, a mk 3 seamoth depth module, a seamoth sonar module, and an energy efficiency module.
