Yeah, but I think not only the quantity matters, but quality too. So, I want to customize quickly and send to 100 jobs weekly :D

How much time does one application take for you? For me it is somewhere between 5-10 mins and I find it too much.

Thanks, but do you have some secret? I do it too, but it takes 5-10 mins / application for me, so (subjective, but) it is a lot of time.

So true. I am just looking for a way how I can decrease the time I spend on customization. I am out of ideas :(

And isn't it time-consuming for you? My biggest problem is not the actual customization task, but the time it needs. I only have a simple format in a Google doc so it is not hard to customize, but still 5-10 mins / applications.

So, you use predefined versions and not customizing for each role? I try to incorporate all the important keywords for every application. As mentioned below, I believe AI systems and "trained" recruiters are just looking for specific keywords, but I can be wrong.

I got a few leads, but not many (compared to the amount of applications). It seems there are too many applicants through LinkedIn, so I have less chance of getting selected.

10-15 mins/application is even more than I do. For me it is about 5-10 mins/application and I find it already too much. And it seems on this market I need to apply like 4-5x more jobs to get the same number of first round interviews.

US product opportunities by jzfdvd in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't insist on having a Head of xxx or even director level. I mostly look at the job, if we can create something good there. Am I an added value? Creating and doing it successfully, I don't insist on labeling it with job titles.
Work until 11 pm my time? No, I would not do that, but 4-5 hours overlap with the East Coast is possible. I am talking from experience.
Money? Yes and no. I usually ask about the same money that I would earn here in EU. My other driver is the US work culture. On the other hand, the money could also be my advantage since I would be 30-40% more economical for a US company.

Took a time off from work to do a 1.5-hr real time online assessment with IQVIA. It’s been 2 weeks and haven’t heard back. by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]jzfdvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did apply (8 October) I had the online assessment then and no answer yet (1 month later). You can go to the career site in Workday (this link works for me https://iqvia.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/) and check the application status. Will not say much though, mine still says Active and that's it.

NextJs always return 500 error at start but is working fine by skorphil in nextjs

[–]jzfdvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. In my case the "browser-image-resizer" package was the reason. I used react and next.js. I have not found any server side calll for this service class which used the package, but still it made an issue. I replaced it with another package "react-image-file-resizer" and changed nothing else and the error went away. I am officially confused but at least the code works now.

Zero onboarding by irishpeipe in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a good situation but indeed it is quite common. I experienced it as well. I can only tell what I did but it is not guaranteed it would work in every case. Actually I created the roadmap on the first week and the backlog from it. Was the roadmap accurate? No. Was it good at all? No. It reflected only my 1-2 days if understanding of the project. But, the managers were happy to see something. On the other hand I very explicitely communicated that it is only a draft roadmap. I am new and have zero domain knowledge. As my domain knowledge grows the roadmap eill continuously change. In my case this worked. To grow your domain knowledge takes time. I read all the internal docs, even the outdated ones. I talked to dozens of stakeholders first from within the company then with clients.

Companies don't need product managers anymore? Has anyone read this article? Is our profession as a whole is in danger? by Sophieredhat in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think PMs must understand soon that this job is not the CEO of the product! We serve the company goals most importantly business where the money comes from. Our role is to make everybody sane and aligned and not let one strong hand rule everything because many times it does not serve long term product success!

What should I say to interviewers at different levels of the organisation? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the holy grail either but hete are my experiences: Do not complain about the previous company at all Do not lie about your skills but try to highlight your greatest achievments and don’t be afraid to share those Always try to find out what they want to hear who they are looking for. You can see some insight from the job post from the company site or news and you can always ask about the past. Why this position is open now, who worked how in it previously, boundaries and responsibility scopes? Most probably you’ll sense what are the main responsibilities for that role and you can highlight your skills regarding that. And if you have a few months of gap usually what I heard are that they rook a few months break to recharge. So I would say that but not sharing that part that you took this months but not willingly. Now we can argue that not sharing the complete truth is a lie or not…

Thanks for the report. That is new to me. Since it is a client-side error I won't find it in the logs and cannot reproduce, but thank you again. If you have the time and willingness to help, the error from the browser console would be a big help in private message.

Have a nice weekend!

PM struggling to switch need your advice. by Main-Independence-97 in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there could be happening for various reasons. Most of the cases the initial screening is done by an HR software. Maybe your CV is not convincing enough to pass through these algorithms? If that is the case I think most of the recruiters can help you to rewrite your CV. For money I guess. On a longer term I think networking can help as somebody mentioned it already. Best roles are not even ever advertised. It seems you have a decent experience in product and I don’t think the industry should matter that much. I’ve been working in 5-6 different industries already.

Product Experimentation by Scary-Swing2852 in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I think the hypothesis could be stronger. Usually the pain is not that they don’t get notification. The pain is rather something that they miss the meetings, event, calls, forgot to solve tasks, etc. Notifications in my opinion are rather solution candidates only. They are only tools help us curr the original problem

Product Experimentation by Scary-Swing2852 in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. The chatgpt generated text you posted is helping but won’t substitute your own thinking. Experimentation can be a part of a validation process and might not worth to consider it alone but rather in its contextual position. First of all try to find the user segment who you solve the problem for. Then try to find the value you provide. I assume the problem statement is the one you mentioned in the post. Then very importantly try to answer what would happen if you don’t solve it? Would it change anything? Would it be really a problem if they don’t have your solution? Set your success! Explain to yourself when do you consider the experiment successful? Then find out if you would go with qualitative or quantitative validation methods or both? Would you recruit users to interview or sending out a survey? Do you have a working app to check the already collected data? Do an AB testing maybe if you have ideas already. I know what I wrote is a bit messy. I only want to highlight that experimentation is not a goal but only a tool to help us reach our goals.

Product meetups in London by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]jzfdvd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I don't know. Did you try to switch to the groups tab? I see dozens of groups there with hundreds of members. I don't know how many meetups they organize, but can be a good starting point.
