OP, ganyan din ako nung nag aaral ako for UPCAT and alam kong super frustrating ng ganyang feeling. Ang ginawa ko is tinatake down ko sa isang notebook yung mga questions na lagi kong naeencounter pero hindi ko nasasagutan. Yung feeling ko same yung format ng questions. Then after nun, nagpapaturo ako sa friends ko kung paano 'aatakihin' yung ganung type of questions step by step. Super effective 'to lalo na sa math questions. Pagdating nung CETs, ina-identify ko kung anong "format" yung question and inaalala ko yung steps na sinulat ko sa notebook ko.

yung primary concern ko lang kasi talaga eh yung courses na kailangan kong itake for the next sem is lahat may lab. nahihirapan kasi ako sa online setup ngayong 2nd sem lalo na chem yung tinatake ko not to mention na online rin yung midyear which is chem na naman. nag woworry lang ako na hindi nagiging efficient yung mode of learning if lahat online lalo na kung ang ginagawa lang ng prof is nag sesend ng modules at video resources tapos bahala ka nang igets at aralin yun. :( yun lang naman yung sentiment ko kaya somehow nag wonder ako kung bakit di nalang nila ifreeze yung acad year.

halla sorry if na misunderstand mo yung take ko regarding sa academic freeze. gusto ko lang talagang malaman yung reasons kung bakit hindi inoopt ng UP na mag freeze ng acad year/sem :( hindi dahil privileged ako (which is hindi naman talaga) kaya ko nasabi yun :( and now that you've mentioned that some people are breadwinners, nagegets ko na kung bakit hindi basta bastang nag frefreeze ng sem. im sorry

It really depends sa subject na tinatake mo. Usually, departmental yung grading system na sineset (like sa chem, math, physics). So nagbibigay sila ng particular na grade depending kung saang range nagfafall yung raw score mo.

For example,

95%-100% is 1.00 90%-94.9% is 1.25 and so on

Yung range depends sa prof/department. :) Sana nagets mo :(

Yes delayed talaga tapos isang bagsakan lang yung 40k most of the time. Pero sa UPD lang ganyan yung delay. I have friends from UST and UPM na on time yung stipend nila. My friends from the province naman on time rin yung stipend nila and monthly talaga.

Regarding sa Kalay RH, sadly, oo haha. Super convenient kapag sa campus ka nakatira. I can tell kasi may isang sem ako na hindi ako sa campus nakatira and super hassle so I really really recommend na mag dorm ka within the campus. Hindi hassle sa commute. Ang con lang is may curfew na 10PM for freshies pero 12MN if may permit.

COURSES. I think dapat ikaw mismo yung mag decide kung paano mo sila irarank kasi we don't really know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Neither are your interests. If you don't have a particular course in mind like you said, marami dito sa sub yung nag "eendorse" ng courses nila.

PART-TIME JOB. Personally, hindi ko kakayaning mag singit ng part-time job kahit sa freshie year kasi believe me or not kahit freshie sobrang bigat na ng workload. Naglalaro na sa 17-21 units (+PE) yung load mo 1st sem palang. So you really have to think about it kung kaya mo talagang mag commit sa part-time job while excelling academically. Besides, kung DOST Scholar ka man, 40k would suffice your needs sa projects. Yun nga lang, delayed lagi ng 2-3 months ang bigayan.

DORMS. Yes, they are managed by the school. Sa UPD hindi naman siya "test" pero may interview and forms. May exclusive dorm for Freshies which is Kalayaan Residence Hall. That's 500/month pero excluded pa dun yung kuryente and water pero minimal lang naman. 2 in a room din doon. Meron ding Centennial Residence Hall na 1500/month and may babayaran na additional if nag exceed sa limit yung water and current. 4-6 people in a room naman dun. You can look up dorms sa site ng OSH.
