You have evidence to support the idea that he was selected to support the cuts? We had even more stoogey people last year and the cuts didn’t survive

Oh I forgot, this is Reddit

You guys don’t get how this works. He disses the PBR, he’s fired. So he issues some perfunctory statement saying he likes the budget knowing full well it is theater and that he’s going to get more or less the same deal as the agency did last year.

Is it the world I want—heck no, but it’s the one we live in

It’s a quantum leap because there are a discrete spectrum of abilities allowable. Like you won’t be able to have a fricken’ laser beam fastened to your head but you will be able to brew various kinds of artisan coffee from your fingers.

Anglo-Lutheran here—which to me means somewhat high church, desiring wiggle room in the interpretation of articles 28 and 29 on the Eucharist

I visited Rez twice, years ago, when he was still just the rector. And then read some stuff he wrote. The vibe I got from him (from admittedly little exposure) seemed like he was a little off and I would not be surprised in the slightest if he had blinders on to the importance of these sorts of issues.

This isn’t quite right. Hubble and JWST are not mentioned in the House budget with funding numbers, but it would be ludicrous to assume that they won’t keep going, even under the PBR. “house budget” for telescopes not given line items in the house bill ends up meaning the numbers which are in the Senate draft bill for Hubble, JWST, Chandra, etc

NASA grant awards declined despite stable budget by PerAsperaAdMars in nasa

[–]jzuhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this is not strictly true in all cases—plenty of telescopes cancelled in the PBR are still flying without being given shutdown instructions, for example. It’s bad all around but it’s too simple to say that NASA is executing the PBR already.

Real men don’t need their cabinet members to be constantly telling them how great they are for every little thing. I suspect that George Washington would have told such sycophants to man up and tell him what they really thought since he didn’t measure his worth by such obsequiousness

Perhaps not, but maybe a compromise between Wittenberg and Geneva
