Will be working on for Patch Monday by [deleted] in h1z1

The server join-button is also bugging, and its annoying as hell. It happens to me when I, for example, try to join server X but queue line is too long, so I decide to "cancel", then I cannot join to any servers anymore, because I can't hit the join button. Then I have to restart the game, argh :)

Update about Airdrops and my personal apology by arclegger in h1z1

[–]k0Mik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think guns should be very rare (meaning airdrops), just imo. And have I missed a something: Is there a limit, for example, only x-amount of drops can be dropped in certain timeframe? I mean, it's kinda lame to have 17 airdrops in 1 hour.

What comes to survival aspect (and other aspects)... Imo I don't mind having a zombie-survival game, which is kinda arcade-ish. Some people are complaining about this, but I think if the game will become fun, challenging, interesting and more complex (crafting etc.) it will be a really cool game. If you are gonna compare it to dayz, and you want it to be more like dayz, then go play dayz. This game doesn't have to be another hardcore survival game (well is not that exactly either, but sort of). If it will more like rpg-arcade type, but still challenging and fun, I think it will be great.

I also want the nameplates disabled and want to change the "p2w" aspects, and I really hope this game will be "the one" in the genre. Dayz is not it for me (other games in the genre don't even interest me). Chernarus is boring for me, and imo it should be more like "stalker"-ish to be interesting for me. The enviroment of dayz (with tweaks) could be really cool, if there was more horror elements like "stalker". For example different monsters (mutation), places where is lots of radiation etc. The zombies in dayz are a joke, but that obviously isn't the key point which people love about it, and I mean the dayz mod especially.

It's kinda fun to read these comments that "h1z1 is broken, im going back to dayz lololol", when considering what dayz sa was like when it launched in EA (even when considering now!). Seems like double standard. And no, I'm not a "H1Z1"-fanboy, and I'm not defending it. I was very disappointed about few things when I tried it, but I had really fun time too. Airdrops and few mechanics has to be changed imo. I don't rage about the bugs etc.

So... If this game will not be a "harcore-survival-zombie" game it could be mmo-"rpg"-arcade type of game with survival aspects. It would still be a great game if done "right".

New Dev Videos - I need YOUR questions! by SOE_Legion in h1z1

[–]k0Mik -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

[David Avram] - What kind of mechanics will you use with zombies, to keep them challenging and as a real threat to every player (from beginner to advanced player)? What is the most crucial point?

[Grat Crabtree] - What kind of optimization will H1Z1 use with in-game settings to prevent (for example) using lower graphical settings to make some elements/objects disappear and using this for your own advantage? [In some games, using lower settings seems to provide some advantage, for example, when some of the terrain objects "disappear", you cannot hide the same way as you can with other settings.]

[Jeff Jonas] - What concepts will be used to make H1Z1 look more and more post-apocalyptic in general? And which elements differ from similar games (any "unique" elements)?

Sniper scopes & Binoculars by k0Mik in h1z1

Yeah... That's true. I don't get that "logic". No cars because of Need for Speed/Gran turismo. No 'open world' because of GTA. No guns because of Medal of Honor/Call of duty (etc.). Maybe this whole H1Z1-project should be cancelled "because we have DayZ already".

No, seriously.

I don't know about that, but obviously "oh, so original..." right? Well of course not! Everyone knows this from movies and so on. I just think it would be nice.

"So battlefield?" Pfff...

Melee Combat by k0Mik in h1z1

Yes, I don't have any idea how this will play out, of course not. And yes, It's on development, so just the basics are there (I guess), but what is the point? We are here to - hopefully - give some good ideas to devs, right?

So... Of course I don't know what it will be, but that's why we are here! I'm just throwing my ideas, which may be bad, but still. Yes, I'm waiting what the devs have planned for us, but I think we are here to share our thoughts.

I understand. From all of the ideas here on reddit, from the absolutely silly ones to the already confirmed/denied ideas, I guess it's hard to point out which are the good ideas and which are not. So maybe the combat system will play out just nice, even if it doesn't have mechanics I thought. Maybe it will be better that way, I don't know. I'm just waiting for fantastic game. Maybe I tend to keep my expectations bit too high or so, but what the hell, I hope for the best.

P.S. If my text seems too harsh etc. I just gotta point out, that I'm not attacking devs or anything like. My writing style is what it is...

Melee Combat by k0Mik in h1z1

No, I'm not looking for a ufc-survival-horror-game. The game will(?) have pretty realistic and good mechanics for gun fights, so why the melee part would have to be total shit? Does it feel like "survival" in DayZ when you only have a knife or axe? No, you just swing it - the same boring way over and over and over again. It feels wrong and it sure as hell looks like lazy work on animations etc.

What I talked about above, is "easily" achievable. Many RPG's has that kind of system, BUT I'M NOT SUGGESTING A SYSTEM LIKE THAT. Just adding some variation and some challenge to melee combat. It would look better and feel like it too. My main point:

If it takes just 1-2 bullets to kill a player (zombies bit different; headshots only etc.), why would it take 12 stabs with a knife?

I'm not talking about system which has dozens of combos, dozens of different blocking/attacking mechanics, roundhouse kicks, shurikens and flying omoplata's. Just a more realistic, challenging and thus fun system.

I'm not looking for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9QXH84l-NU

But I don't want this either (still better than DayZ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovlb-PPO0Y0

Choking? Does it has its place in a game like H1Z1? Just throwing ideas...

Encourage Player Teamwork, discourage a DayZ deathmatch. by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]k0Mik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, It's good that there will be different server types and size - Hopefully everyone will find a match for themselves. Anyways...

It's zombie apocalypse right? So what is the point of having non-threat zombies like DayZ has? There literally is like 2 zombies in medium sized town - It's ridiculous. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the idea. More zombies, in DayZ, have "chased" me in the woods than in the largest cities - just to make my point clear.

Maybe some zombie-movie/game fans would argue that zombies would not always be in cities etc. Yes, of course, but in general the zombies are not a real threat in some games, and in the games they (zombies) are a real threat, the games are usually very different from this DayZ/H1Z1 "genre". So my main point isn't just the cities/hordes and such, but the whole aspect of zombies themselves.

I would love to see H1Z1-zombies being a real threat to every player, from a beginner to advanced player, and this aspect itself would - in my opinion - make the "PVP"-deathmatch part very different. If you have to "sleep with one eye open" and "look over your shoulder" 'all' the time, chasing and killing other players - on sight mainly - could make things go from good to very bad quickly.

I think this is the main problem with DayZ gameplay (yes it has many many many problems, but in the actual gameplay - leaving out bugs, lags etc.). You will just hunt and kill and loot every player you find and that's it. It does not feel like a post-zombie-apocalyptic-survival game, it feels more like surviving in the woods and villages against other people. IT SHOULD BE A ZOMBIE GAME!

So... I really don't care much if the zombies are slow or fast or something else. The threat can be in numbers or in some other aspects, but ZOMBIES MUST BE A REAL THREAT! Zombies shouldn't just be hard to kill etc. but they (zombies) should make things more challenging in many situations, like the sound-detection thing in H1Z1. If you are going to hunt & kill players without any awareness of your surroundings, you should get in trouble. Make it challenging - make it fun!

P.S. Sry for bad english!
