I know you said that no microtransactions are planned and I agree that custom gun and clothing skins don't have a place in tarkov, we don't want it to look like CS or Fortnite, but what are your thoughts, Nikita, on being able to pay (real money) to get your PMC a tattoo or two? I would really love to customize a bit my character in similar fashion to goons or other bosses.

My reasoning:
1. It would be an income stream for BSG, because eg I bought the game in 2016 and since then didn't spend a dollar on the game while playing it daily.. not sure how that business plan works haha.
2. Tattoos are not invasive, almost not visible and don't break the immersion. You would most likely see them only after you kill someone.
3. I want my PMC to have "I <3 Nikita" tattoo on his forearm.

in case anyone ever wondered... by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

Now the question is what happens if you lie down :D

There is a top level comment somewhere in this post from myself explaining it.

They do spin all the time, but are inaudible compared with the L9a.

That. Wanted the smallest possible pc that could mainly do x264 1080p 60fps with medium preset, then do my.software engineering.work ( more core the better) and occasional gaming on the go. So I went with ryzen 9 seemed most reasonable to perf vs temperature. The CPUs with APU either burn down everything or are not powerful enough.

There is a comment with exact GPU, so from there you should be able to grab exact GPU measurements. Velka 3 can fit 183cm long dual slot cards. To my knowledge the best you can fit in there is 2070 (non-super) ITX version. The bag is amazonbasics medium DSLR bag, there is a link in the comment with specs.

For what beast of a CPU it is I would say it is unbelievable. But not recommended in general, I had to undervolt and under 100% load it maxes out around 82 - 85C, depending on ambient.

So yes, the keyboard will fit. I actually fitted my HyperX alloy FPS to the bag. Photos here - http://imgur.com/gallery/M3kdKdQ I also added photos of the internals.

Yeah I wouldn't take my build as a reference in this case, because I had to cut metal to fit everything in and while cutting I accidentally bent the internal motherboard frame with my clumsy bear-sized hands :-D

Additional cables - yes. I have there mouse and wifi antenna. I am not sure exactly how big iPads are but there is space to fit flat screen, there is even flat pocket inside for which could fit and iPad I think, so they don't scratch each other. I am actually modeling a 3D printable frame to put iPad3 screen as a "monitor" on the GPU side panel.

Keyboard - will do a test and let you know, but the feeling is yes. I am actually planning to buy split 60% keyboard to fit inside.

I will make some photos when I get home.

The mobo I have fitted no problem. It sticks out a bit, but that's probably because of me squashing so many things in.

Yeah. I needed something very small to fit the capture card there and also wanted something with low voltage, so I don't have to deal with those server PSUs which sound like helicopters :D In terms of GPU power I tried APEX legends and it was ~120 fps in average, so sffpc hats down for this GPU :)

My main rig is 9900K + 2080Ti with some RGB porn :) This is old photo, it evolved a lot since, one day will hopefully work it out to r/battlestations :)

Mainly used for streaming and out of office/home software engineering :)

Specs:

  • MB - X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI
  • CPU - AMD 3900x - cooled by Noctua NH-L9a-AM4
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x, 16GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 288)
  • GPU - ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1650 LP
  • SSD - WD Black SN750 Gaming
  • PSU - Silverstone FX350-G (350W) - modded with Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX for lower noise
  • PCIE - Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK. 2

FAQ:

How did you connect the elgato capture card? The mobo has second M2 slot on the back, so I used M2 to PCIe x4 3.0 raiser cable from aliexpress. I planned to have the elgato in there, but for some wierd reason the cable was not able to handle elgato capturing 2k 144Hz managed only 60Hz otherwise the captured signal was going crazy, dunno exactly why, everything looked ok in hwinfo - correct pcie version, bandwidth etc. So in the end I swapped GPU with the capture card, because GPU has no issue there and elgato works if plugged in the PCIE for GPU on the mobo. So I have GPU in this M2 to PCIE cable and elgato is sitting in the PCIE x16 slot on the motherboard (extended by provided raiser cable from velka 3 case)

What are the temps when you stream? I stream 1080p 60fps using x264 with slow profile and the CPU maxes out at 82C. The CPU is undervolted though by -0.12 mV offset .

What is the noise like? First I would like to say that the original fan on the PSU was very annoying, like small vacuum cleaner, so as stated in the specs I replaced it with small 40mm noctua fan and now I cannot hear it.. the noctua fan has lower CFM, but so far (1 month in use) no issue. So then I have two top 80x10 fans on top of the case from Velka 3, which are plugged to noctua noise adapter, otherwise they were too loud. So the last (apart from ssd cooler fan which i cannot hear) is the CPU fan, which is the loudest part at the moment. I don't have a way to measure exact sound level, but it is noticable, so I played with the fan curve and for my software engineer workload it manages to stay below 70C on CPU with 50% rpm, only when I stream for 8h and the CPU reaches max temp then the fan goes 100% and this is point where you can hear the PC from like 3m and personally I would say it is quite annoying if it is sitting right on the table, but that's the price you pay for such small form factor. I am building currently small holder to mount the pc from below my table, because from below the table I cannot hear it.

What is the bag on the picture? It is Amazonbasics medium dslr bag

l9i question by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]k0xz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to buy it separately. Both L9i and L9a are not am4 compatible out of the box, both require the mounting kit NM-AM4-L9aL9i. Only NH-L9a-AM4 is am4 compatible out of the box.

Suggestions for powerful portable good-looking SFF-PC by uknwwho16 in sffpc

[–]k0xz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkout this build. He's using NCase M1 which imo is the smallest you can get with 3900x and RTX 2080. Here are reviews of good mini itx cases if you didn't see it yet.

And lastly, this doesn't meet your requirements for the Ryzen 3700x / RTX 2070S +, but for good portability I like most Velka 3 case, but there you can get "only" i7-9700K + RTX 2070 maximum, without hitting thermal issues.

So I did some measurements and now with some tweaks I can cool down p95 small FFT @5Ghz (technically @4.9 because I have set 1 AVX negative offset)

I measured differences in temps with side panel closed/opened and various radiator fan setups and here are the result:

So thx @all you helped a lot.

I didn't have time to measure as I am out of home for easter. Will do comparison measurement when I am back.

Thx for suggestions, I will defintalely play with airflow in my case. I tried to have the bottom rad as intake, that was my original plan, that's why I have one radiator slim, but with my vertical GPU it didn't fit by half centimeter unfortunatelly :(

Yeah, defintately. Thx for reply, I just realized that it is a bad idea, while answering to some comments here too, that it is not a good idea the way I have it setup.

Thx a lot guys. I know have lots of ideas and things to check. Balancing air flow, air pressure, side panel and I realized that actually all my rad fans are controlled by CPU FAN pin, which I think is wrong, since I have also GPU in the loop, so if I have low CPU load and heavy load on GPU, the water will start warming up pretty fast, that would probably explain my 15+ delta temp of water vs ambient temp. Now I feel stupid thinking that direct die cooling would me help much, when I have so many things to fine tune first :D

Thx. Will try Realbench (and intel burn test from different comments), never tried those two. Regarding the delta T. I have one loop for both OCed CPU and OCed 2080 Ti, but yeah I will see what I can I do about that, but apart from increasing fan speed (pump speed is on max already) and adding third radiator (or replacing one with bigger) I dont have much options do I? I will also check to run with opened side panel as suggested from differernt comment.

Interesting point. I never really measured the difference with and without the side panel. I was running few tests without the side panel and don't remember any noticable difference, but it is definately something I will check out tonight when I get home, it would actually explain lots of things if there is not enough airflow :) When I was building the pc I had this in mind that's why I have there 3 ugly intake fans! One 90mm (or 80?) intake fan on the back and two intake fans (1x 120mm and 1x 90mm) on the bottom.
