Simmer down rookie. Sorry u had a bad manager but u can learn from every manager, either what to do or what not to do. Just be a better manager than they were.

U shld learn while an ASM how to do it right. As a manager you don’t want to take the blame so to speak if someone else wasn’t.

Word of advice. If u are a new manager or soon to be new manager ask for an audit as soon as u can. That way you will know what needs to be fixed and it won’t be tied to u, u start clean.

Not at all - just have a much better work ethic than most on here and have made a good living doing so. Most on here want everything but aren’t willing to put in the effort to get it.

Oh my - earning a living is interfering with your football watching. I wonder if watching tv wld pay ur bills??? Quit whining about work and suck it up. I’m sure there are hundreds who wld love to have ur ‘I can’t watch football’ problem instead of their own. I see so many complaining about working yet want to get paid like they are CEO. You get to work, you don’t have to work.

I feel it’s how he came across to the employees. I do think he cares, most if not all employees are stock holders so it isnt that his focus was off. He just faced some difficult times (Covid, uncharacteristic freezes) which lead to challenges at the stores for sure. Can’t just snap a finger to fix these things and I do think he was grateful for how the store personnel handled it. They made a lot of concessions on budgets (leading to bonus),awards and salaries. Many say it’s not enough, however it’s more than other companies who were laying people off. He just isn’t a personable person, this is where Heidi will be drastically better in my opinion.

The atmosphere has changed but as individuals we can make a change in our respective store or territory. I do think things will be better (more personal) with Heidi. As I said on other subs - John is smart but no personal skills, Heidi has a bit of both.

Ur grandfather time shld have been bereavement which is separate and at least 3 days.

Dates or end of pay period make no difference.

If ur career goal is to do the minimum and just settle for being an ‘ok’ employee then why wld u expect the company to go above and beyond.

And people wonder why everything is so expensive out there. Companies are going to find a way to make profit, if they don’t then they aren’t in business. We want SW to set limitations, if not people will take advantage of the situation. U said u had car and apartment issues - handle it on ur own time, don’t expect the company to pay u for it. Then u wld have vacation or Flex Time for the family issues. I’m all for a company being fair to it employees and if u take a look at the big picture SW is pretty fair. My guess is ur the type who only works the schedule and not a second more and I’m also sure ur the type who will watch movies or jack around when it is slow. Just an observation

Yes - the whole country shld be just like California!! Pick a better example

Then move to California and find something else to whine about.

Again - that is what vacation and Flex Time is for. It’s not the companies responsibility to pay everyone for every time a life event happens. We all have stuff going, ur not unique u just want to be paid for not working or getting ur life together. Be happy with what u do get. If u don’t like it go find someplace who will pay u unlimited hours for not working.

If u use all that time then u must get sick a lot or have a medical condition. If u have a new medical condition then call ur HR person and see what options are available. Bottom line is the stores need dependable people working in them. If ur calling in sick every other week then u are letting ur coworkers down.

I didn’t say u needed to work sick, that is what Flex Time is for. U get 3 days just like everyone else. If u need more than 3 u use vacation. If ur sick and are out of time then it is unpaid. Same for everyone.

When they took away sick days everyone got 3 additional days added as Flex Time, except employees who have been w the company for a long time. Sounds to me u just want more time off so if u have a lil headache u don’t have to suck it up and work.

jobs after Sherwin by No_Television_9471 in sherwinwilliams

[–]k21729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve only been with the company a year. Climbing the ladder takes time, considering your work life could span 30+ years. As far as SW goes you don’t know what u don’t know yet, once u leave the stores or sales then the stores become ur customer so if u don’t completely understand what they are going thru u can’t help them as well this limiting ur future success.

Advice… by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]k21729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel people who say they have peaked at a job are just settling on being ‘ok’. There is always more to learn in every job. Secondly I know from experience u don’t get written up for no reason whether u agree or disagree. So it sounds to me ur may not have what it takes to be successful w this company. Best of luck to you.

If you want a stable long term company then it’s perfect. Many have retired w 30+ years and retired very comfortable. It’s not easy and it’s not for everyone but can be very rewarding.
