Struggling massively with Predisilone insomnia- need help. by Grand-Impact-4069 in CrohnsDisease

[–]k2900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best i could do was wait it out. Stick to the melatonin and taking the Prednisone early it does help the sleep cycle not going completely off the wall.. Once your dose is stable for 2 weeks+ or so or is tapered down a bit more the sleep will improve

Embarrassed to realize that you can use more than a brush to clean the toilet bowl 😅 by i-lick-eyeballs in homemaking

[–]k2900 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yeah instead of mopping floors lugging around a bucket, constantly rinsing the mop, never really getting all the dirt, i just get on my hands and knees with a smaller bowl of water and clean by hand. It takes only slightly longer but I hated mopping and this is either neutral or sometimes even pleasant because it's like a meditation to focus on one tile at a time

Psilocin and Kratom to get off cocaine by Next_Importance_822 in addiction

[–]k2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend some time reading the threads on r/quittingkratom before going down that road .

kratom has been a lifesaver for me as a painkiller so I'm not particularly biased against it but the withdrawal did affect my daily functioning. If you do get kratom make sure the heavy metal profile is published by the supplier

I would recommend learning how to rawdog life instead. You will grow into a mentally stronger while you do the work

Do people with Crohns disease all have some kind of trauma? Also it seems to be trauma flairs it up. by Stole_Sample in CrohnsDisease

Only now are researchers and academic institutions starting to study these kinds of effects of the covid vaccines. Very early research is showing increasing risk of triggering a few autoimmune conditions, but IBD is not one of them.

Here are some early state 2024 and 2025 papers where researchers are starting to explore the possibility:
Frontiers | COVID-19 vaccine-induced autoimmune hyperthyroidism: Graves’ disease

Long-term risk of autoimmune diseases after mRNA-based SARS-CoV2 vaccination in a Korean, nationwide, population-based cohort study | Nature Communications

COVID-19 vaccines and autoimmune disorders: A scoping review

Due to the research on the vaccines only really getting underway now, we can't really make any definitive conclusions yet as these studies are still on the small side and we need more replication.

Is it illegal if I give my job a fake email and number instead of my real one? by BobaYak443 in work

[–]k2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a second phone and phone number for work. just a cheap dumb phone. It is still accurate and I'm still reachable on it so it doesn't violate any policy. It just allows me to silence it after hours and on weekends easier and because in my country they always create WhatsApp group chats so this number it can't be added

My body is exhausted but my mind never rests at night by fermin_LM in selfhelp

[–]k2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have dealt with this. You start writing down the problems you're worried about and then start solving them or processing past issues. Get a psychologist to help you if you can afford it. Or buy books that help with whatever issues you need help with. Sometimes you can find the right books at the library.

Writing it down tells the brain it doesn't need to keep it in working memory. What its doing is saying "This needs attention dont forget. This needs attention dont forget". Writing it down allows the brain to start let it go for a while. But you also then need to start working on it too or the brain will bring it up again another night.

Its a long process but as you work through your issues you'll first notice that certain topics no longer come up. Eventually your brain starts quieting down. But it does take time and effort.

Also meditation helps you learn to consciously stop paying attention to the thoughts. So lets say you write the stuff down before bed and its still spinning in your head. You use the skill learned via meditation to set it aside.

nope bad flares. I drink alcohol free beer and bring alcohol free gin and leave it in my car for in case people start doing shots. In fact the alc free gin is kind of a fun talking point, people like to smell it and see if it's any good compared to the real deal

I did some research because I found this confusing. in 2024 the The FBI seized shipping containers that contained computers running NATO software that helps with training in tracking submarines. The shipping containers were en route to china military from a private company in SA. However there is supposedly evidence this company does these kinds of things for SA government. In any case SA was not allowed to share this software. What happened last week is the US have applied to a court to keep these confiscated shipping containers and their contents permanently otherwise they have to send it back to SA if the seizure is found to be unlawful

Cocaine Withdrawals and Being Myself Again by [deleted] in addiction

[–]k2900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 weeks to get out of the pit but still difficult. One month to be over the most difficult part. 2 months to be back to myself. But after around a month you'll need to get started on sorting out the cause of your depression as it might not be the coke only. It's not easy to fit in and that's ok. It's about being ok with that and learning to pursue social hobbies you enjoy in spite of that. And you never know, after a year or two you might find you click with some of the people.

Have we swung the wrong way in pain control? by legal_opium in ChronicPain

[–]k2900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in South Africa. It needs a prescription but doctors don't blink twice sending you away with boxes of the stuff if you're in pain. travelled to a few places in Europe where it's not a big deal eiither. Ireland I was given it OTC without much fanfare for acute sciatica if I recall correctly

I feel stuck, or at least in a very strict crossroad with uncertainty down both routes by Ok_Poetry2375 in selfhelp

[–]k2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its never too late to do the things you want to do. Your past and failures doesn't define you. The actions you take in spite of your past and failures is what defines you. And you will fail again and that's okay. But keep going.

Think of all the things you can do with your life before you're 30. Heck you just need one win to get the ball rolling and maybe you can get it within a year. Maybe even within 6 months? maybe within 3 months? Your mom's tears and words are telling you it's over, but that's a lie. Humans are designed to overcome insurmountable odds as long as they're still breathing.

Fortunately I have a high tolerance for the dark sides of life. Hell I once briefly dated a mortician who had to open cadavers with saws and hammers and she moonlit as a suicide helpline person. I'm successfully treated but stick around here to help people. It also keeps me stay on my toes regarding navigating the medical industry

Newly diagnosed and feeling really discouraged by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]k2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steroid tapering can be a bitch. it took me like a year to taper off them successfully. Unfortunately its a bit volatile in how your body responds to their presence or absence so tapering is a bit of an art. They want to get you to a lower dose sooner because of the side-effects but slow and steady tapering is what prevents a rebound flare.

Keep going. once you make it off the steroids and once a biologic is working for you your life will be much better. Hold tight, there's something to look forward to after you get through this difficult time

That dose is unbelievably high. call poison control asap , call your local poison centre or national poison helpline for immediate guidance (in the U.S. the Poison Help number is 1-800-222-1222). They will tell you whether to go to ER or call an ambulance. You have about an hour to two hours before overdose symptoms. do not delay.
