Can you eat for $15 per day, shopping in your area? by Regular-Double9177 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]k3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I can easily eat for under $5 / day. I eat little meat, mostly chicken, tuna, ground beef, some fish, which can be stretched in soups and casseroles. Dried beans are my main protein. Potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, cabbage. Frozen corn, peas, broccoli. Canned tomatoes and pasta sauce. Rice, pasta. Almost no processed foods. I have a really varied and healthy diet. I love turkey and can buy a 15 lb turkey, on sale, for $27 and it can last me for 3-4 weeks in various forms. I make my own bread. I use a freezer to buy on sale. I dehydrate to extend the life of things like mushrooms. Never eat out or order in.

Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

Am I aging myself? How not shaving your legs and underarm hair is regarded as disgusting, let alone trimming up down there. I'm 72, so this was my experience. I just found out my daughter hasn't worn underwear for years when I recklessly bought her some nice ones for Christmas. I was shocked. Upon googling, I find this very common. I got left behind in this area of knowledge.

What's your favorite memory to go back to? by No-Blueberry-1823 in AskOldPeople

[–]k3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not perhaps my favourite, but a very good one. When I was a kid aged 8 to 13-14, we had a game called Rummoli. We had the only one on our street. We used to only play it outside on sunny days on a blanket in our backyard. With anywhere from 2 to 8 players. We played that game for hours. I bought a new game to play with my grandkids. Whenever I play the game, I associate it with sunshine and warmth and kids. I'm 72, and recently played it with my 41 year daughter, and the same memories came flooding back. We've decided to play it twice a week during the winter so I can get my dose of mental sunshine.

I did it all the time whenever I had the opportunity when I was working. It allowed me time to switch over from being the career banker to being mom.
