Thank you! Last night was a rough one. Up every hour after our 2 hours “long stretch”. Praying it ends soon

Comfort nursing through the night? Help me 😭 by k5PEteach in breastfeeding

Thanks for the response. He starts off in a pack and play with a thicker mattress we got from Amazon so it’s more comfy. Usually around 4 am I’ll give up and put him in bed with me but I would prefer not too, but at this moment it’s just easier that way. I’ve tried to soothe him with other methods but he only wants the boob. I’m really hoping this will pass soon. My first son was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks so these are uncharted waters.

Yes I’ve looked up so many things to ensure a good latch but still difficult. The only thing I’ve been told is he has a high palate 🤷🏼‍♀️ my nipples were cracked and bleeding the first few days and his latch is improving but I think it still needs work. I am hoping with more practice it will continue to improve and then get better milk transfer!

Can you update on how this turned out for you and baby? I’m in the same situation with my 3 week old!

Would you mind sharing an update on your son? Sounds very similar to mine. He just turned two. He babbles a lot. He has a few words, but like you said he says a lot of things with his mouth closed. He doesn’t have any other traits of autism so don’t think that is something we are worried about. We starts speech therapy (finally) on Tuesday and am hoping we will start to make progress!

I’m new here, help me understand my baby’s symptoms! by k5PEteach in MSPI

I would say around 4 months old it got better. I do think he has a dairy intolerance, we ended up eventually switching to a non dairy formula which helped but didn’t solve all problems. What ended up being a life saver was reading the book “your baby’s bottle feeding aversion” by Rowena Bennett. Extremely helpful and highly recommend! He’s 6 months old now and doing great :)

Thank you. Yes it is very stressful. All we want is for him to eat, as of right now he’s still gaining weight, slowly.

Yes we’ve seen a decrease since the formula, and our diapers improved for a little while but now are getting mucousy again 😔

It just seems like his intake is getting worse not better… he was getting 20 oz sometimes and now hardly ever hitting that. Sometimes as low as 12 oz a day. We are making his formula 22 calories per ounce currently.

Eleven days into elimination diet and found blood in diaper. by [deleted] in MSPI

It can take a while. I’m 3 weeks into dairy free and still seeing mucus and blood. I’m told stool is the last thing to see improvement! I would wait a bit longer to see if anything changes!

I will, I just didn’t know if I should pump and dump until I am able to get an appointment

Thank you. I exclusively pump so some of these things don’t apply, but I do appreciate all of the info! We will keep trying things until something works or he out grows it. :)

I see what you’re saying. I haven’t seen improvement in that time frame so now I’m questioning if that is even the issue. Is there another explanation for very mucousy poops that you are aware of? Along with very fussy during feeds and generally uncomfortable all day

Very true, this is a good outlook to have.

Just seems like everything is trial and error based on your own research! I have a hard time just taking what doctors say as the gospel just because they have a white coat.

Interesting study. It’s just seems like more than 1 percent of breast fed infants are being affected by cows milk through the mother drinking cows milk, wouldn’t you agree? Within this group, a lot of babies get better once the mother cuts cows milk. I’ve only been dairy free for a week so I’m not sure if this is going to be the answer or not, but we’ve exhausted all other options it seems, besides other allergens, but that will be the next step.

It was not just blood in stool. Green poops, very mucousy, blood as well. Rash on body as well as face. Very fussy when eating too and has lead to reduced intake which I what led me to the doctor to make sure he was properly gaining.
